We usually have ham on Christmas. We had plenty left over this year, and even with everyone taking some home, I knew I had to find a way to use it. I found this recipe at Taste of Home online and it was a tasty way to use up that ham!
Ham and Cheese Ziti
1 package (16 ounces) ziti
1/4 cup butter, cubed
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups 2% milk
2 cups (8 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper
3 cups cubed fully cooked ham
12 ounces frozen green peas
Prepare
ziti according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a Dutch oven, melt
butter. Stir in flour until smooth; gradually add milk. Bring to a boil;
cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Reduce heat; stir in
the cheeses, garlic powder and pepper; cook and stir until cheese is
melted.
Drain ziti; add to sauce mixture. Stir in ham and peas. Transfer to a
greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish. Bake, uncovered, at 375° for 20-25
minutes or until heated through.
Yield: 6 servings.
This looks delicious! I wonder if my husband would eat it?? We had lots of ham left over at Christmas. He doesn't like ham that much and really doesn't like ham casserole. This look different though. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteIt does look delicious! One of my family's favorite dish for leftover ham is a pasta dish with spaghetti, or rotini, cubed ham and broccoli with a Parmesan sauce. It disappears in a flash
ReplyDeleteSounds & looks mighty tasty.

ReplyDeleteI love Taste of Home recipes. I have many that I found in the magazine from years ago that continue to be our favorites. Now I just look them up online or on Pinterest!
ReplyDeleteOh Mari, I love every inch of your home. I love the little desk. I'm looking for at least two. Your decorations are beautiful. I got my card. I love it. I'm so sorry, I didn't get any out this year. Thanks for including me, dear friend. I hope to catch up on my reading a little tonight. Happy New Year to you and yours!
