Oh Alexa....

Meet Alexa!
Alexa is a newcomer to our family.  She is also known as an Echo Dot.  My friend Jenny, from I'm Having a Thought Here recommended it to me after she got one.
Alexa is voice controlled and can do lots of things.  She can give information, tell jokes, set an alarm, play music...  We have it set on an end table in our living room and we use it most to play music.  You can ask her to play music by a certain artist or genre, or you can play music from your Pandora play list.  You can get road conditions, weather reports or ask general questions.  If you have a "smart house" you can even have it control devices in it.
We've really enjoyed it, and often ask silly questions just for fun, or tell Alexa good night, to which she replies "sleep well".
If you are interested in getting one, they are available at Amazon for $49.99.
*This is not a review, just me telling you about the Echo!

  2. I don't know of anyone who has an Alexa, so it's interesting to hear how she's fitting in so well at your place!

  6. So interesting, Mari. I've never heard of this (surprise, surprise). I just commented on my friend Debbie's blog (its all about purple); she has a new Nikon, I would absolutely hands down screw something up. As a matter of fact, I'm not convinced I'll ever know what I need to about the car I bought over a year ago. :)

    Have fun!

  7. Mari, we have had our Echo for over a year now and love it. We are considering a Dot for the other end of the house. We use her for music, weather, jokes, cat facts, Alexa deals (through Amazon Prime) and we just got a light switch that she can control for us (porch light). I don't know if she will still answer the same, but we asked her what she wanted for Christmas and she had quite a list. She will also sing Happy Birthday if you ask. Have fun!!

  8. We have the regular Echo and have been loving it! You have to ask her to sing you a song. Pretty funny. She has 2 different versions too.

Enjoy and saying hi to your Alexa from our Alexa! Lol xoxo

  12. Ever since Jenny talked about hers, I wanted one. But I have been hearing all the warnings about smart TV's and now I don't know if I want an Alexa. Have you been reading the recent Pickles cartoons? Maybe I should get me a good cat! Ha! Ha!

  17. We do not have an Echo and not really sure how much we would use it, but it sounds like a wonderful gift idea. Thanks for your review. And don't you just love Amazon!!

  18. We love our dot. Dagny walks over and shouts ALEXA! And when the dot lights up she says GOOD MORNING and the dot tells her a few things about that day in history. The significance of which is mostly lost on Dagny, haaahaa. xoxo
