Today's recipe is a good one for Christmas parties! I got this from my sister's Mother-in-law who has been making it for years. It's a hot wassail drink that smells as good as it tastes. I made it again for a party this weekend, and it's always good, especially on a cold day. This picture is not mine, it's from the internet because I forgot to take any pictures, but it looks the same.
Hot Wassail
Pour into percolater:
2-64 ounce Apple juice
1 quart orange juice
In coffee basket with filter place:
1 cup brown sugar
2 sticks cinnamon
2 teaspoons whole cloves
2 teaspoons whole allspice
1 dash nutmeg
Run through percolator and enjoy!
Yum! I make something very similar with cider. Always good!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Wassail is so yummy this time of year! xoxo
ReplyDeleteOK I don't have a percolotor so I'm wondering how I can do this. Crockpot? I'll figure it out. The family will love it. As always, thanks, Mari! xoxo
ReplyDeleteYummy!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd to catch up, I perused your home's holiday decor. I love the mini-nativity on the scales most. That is so sweet, darling, and very inspiring these days.
Yummy!!! Thanks for sharing the recipe, Mari. Have a lovely day friend.
ReplyDeleteMari...do you use one of those big coffee urn percolators for this punch?
ReplyDeleteYum! Sounds perfect for a chilly winter day!
ReplyDeleteLove this. I make a similar recipe and drink it the year round now that I cant drink coffee...it tastes good and smell just as good when cooking!
ReplyDeleteSo good and love the smell.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds SO good!! It's going to be COLD here in Florida tomorrow...down into the high 50s.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness!! I didn't realize you're back and blogging again. I've got catching up to do here.
ReplyDeleteI can just imagine how this might taste. When Miki used to be able to come home for Christmas she would make Wassail juice. She had some Swedish name for it - like Glugg, or something like that I think. It was very spicy and so very good.
Actually, I just looked it up. Glogg. With two dots over the o, of course!
ReplyDeleteI make something like this at Christmas. Mine is made with cider and orange juice. It probably tastes the same.
ReplyDeleteA real tummy warmer...although in CA right now we dont need any warming at all!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mari
