I'm told the Fall colors are about 2 weeks behind this year because it's been so warm out. That warm trend is supposed to continue this week with temps in the 70's. I'm not complaining!
I took a little drive around me area to show you how it's looking.
Fall is West Michigan is certainly harvest time:
This corn is ready!
And further across the field it's being picked.
Then it gets poured into these special wagons.
This farmer has been busy - look at all that corn!
Further down the road are crates of squash.
Here are some pictures to show you how little color is out yet:
I came across this turkey on my travels!
Here's a touch of yellow. I think in the next week we'll see a lot of trees changing and I'll show you more pictures then.
We are just about the same! The color is just starting and we had our AC back on today!
ReplyDeleteWe've had some beautiful fall color this year. Luckily, the first snow has yet to fall, so we've been able to enjoy it all the way through. It would be so cool to live in an area with wild turkeys!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful weather you are having. Let's hope it means a shorter Winter for you. Where I live we are getting more than enough rain.
ReplyDeleteLucky you! Enjoy the warm weather!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great photo of the turkey. I enjoyed all the photos and I'm thankful you are still enjoying some warm temps. We don't have much leaf color here either.
ReplyDeleteWell, the colors are showing just traces to be sure, but I must say I enjoyed the drive and the meandering roads with hills...such pretty country. REALLY enjoyed the serenity of the farms too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking me along.
{{{grinning}}} I love all your photos. For the first time ever, the campus has been decorated for fall; cornstalks, mums and so on...yesterday it was 77!! I guess no worries, as the bottom will fall out by Thursday, lolol.
ReplyDeleteIt is supposed to be 88 here today Mari. And I have heard we will have a warm winter, which is ok with me!! Our colors are changing but due more to the drought than the temps.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your pictures next week when the leaves turn. Here we typically go from green to brown practically overnight. Every year I'm hopefully though that we will get color but seeing as how it is still in the 80s here this week I don't think there's much of a chance.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt's been more of an Indian summer here, as well... though we have had more cooler nights lately that have changed over the leaves.
We are enjoying milder days, and grateful for them, because we know that winter is right around the corner and snow, and scraping sidewalks, etc..
Have a wonderful day.
~K.
Pretty pictures and love the corn!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love it...last year a farmer gave me a ride on a corn combine....I was thrilled! Your pictures are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy seeing farming photos, probably my favorite of all. These are wonderful! Our fall hasn't fallen much here either. :)

Hi Mari! The colors are just starting to turn now. It's 75 degrees and sunny...still summer here!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the yellows and reds and oranges. It's October, so I say it's high time for it to come :)
Blessings,
Ceil
I always enjoy your photos, Mari! Catching the turkey was pretty amazing. In the wild, they sure don't look like our vision of the Thanksgiving turkey we see painted on plates and napkins and on TV! I hope you get your beautiful colors before the leaves drop!!
ReplyDeleteWe too are barely getting underway with a bit of color here and there. It's just been too dry and warm. I hope it bursts out gorgeous in November! xoxo
ReplyDeleteLove all the pics Mari! Some areas around us are past peak already. We still have a little green, but I would say we're at mostly about peak right now in my northwoods. So it should work out great. When we're past peak here in another week or so - you'll just be getting really pretty and I'll live through your pics! Lol
ReplyDeleteFall blessings to you dear Friend. xoxo
This post was great, love and miss seeing the fields
ReplyDeletethis time of the year where we did live. I bet my maple tree
is bigger and beautiful this year, oh well life moves on.
Every day we see a bit more color here. I love seeing the crates in the fields. That is something we do not see around here. Love the turkey too! He better watch out! It is getting close to Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteExcept for the field of squash, this could definitely pass for our area. The weather here has been beautiful as well. Enjoyed your lovely photos!
