Tip for Tuesday

I don't know about you, but when I'm baking I never seem to plan enough in advance to soften my butter.  If you have the same problem, here's a solution for you.  I've been using this tip for awhile and it works great!
Put your stick of butter in the microwave and microwave it for 5 seconds, then turn it over one quarter turn, microwave for another 5 seconds, and continue until you've done all 4 sides.  The butter doesn't melt but is nicely softened and ready to be used!

  1. I usually microwave it 90 seconds on power level 2, but still melt the center a little...I'm going to try your idea! Thanks!

  4. Good tip Mari! My microwave must be on a higher setting; usually after 13 seconds total my butter is softened...any longer usually melts it.

  9. I have put the butter in the microwave and turned it on for about 10-15 seconds. It is then partially melted and partially softened. AM going to try your idea. Thanks and happy Tuesday.

  14. Mari, thank you so much for this great tip! I've tried using the microwave before, but I've not turned it nor have I done it for short intervals of time like this suggests. I'll give it a try!

  17. I'm not very good at this as it melts when I try, I think the turning must be the thing. I will have to give that a go! xx
