Today I thought I would share some of the special ornaments on our tree.
We have several of Bob's carved Santa's. I enjoy them every year!
This little bell was made by one of my residents before she came to the nursing home. It's got such fine details and is so pretty.
This ornament always makes us laugh. The first time I met Bob's mom and sisters they were working on things for a charity sale. They were making several of these ornaments and we all thought they were quite ugly. They got the last laugh when they gave me one for Christmas. That was about 35 years ago. It still hangs on our tree (in the back) and brings back fun memories.
Laura made this in Sunday School when she was 6. It's simple, but tells the real reason for the season!
These bells were on our wedding cake. I had read a tip at the time to save them and hang them on your tree. 33 years later, we still do that!
This little angel was made by Andy when he was 5. It's getting a little worn with age, but I enjoy it.
This ornament was made by my sister-in-law. She did one for each of the kids. She passed away 9 years ago of breast cancer, so this is another treasure.
Thanks for looking at my special ornaments. I'm going to take a little blogging break now. Like many of you, I'm really busy right now and can use the extra time here.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas. Remember what it's all about, and keep Christ in your Christmas!
What sweet memories you have with these ornaments! I love the idea of using the bells from your wedding cake as ornaments... a splendid idea!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely to see your beautiful Christmas ornaments, especially the ones carved by Bob. I hope that you have a wonderful Christmas and that all your preparations go well! xx
ReplyDeleteI love the carved Santas! Your husband is so talented. My mom made ornaments with those star beads, probably that many years ago! She also made things with the plastic canvas, and I still have quite a few of those on our tree. Memories are what it's all about.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Christmas, Mari! Will miss you, and look forward to seeing you again, after the holidays!
Thanks for taking time to take pictures and share these ornaments and the decorations around you house in the previous post. It was fun, the day Austin was helping me to put our ornaments on the tree, to tell him about them.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea to change that table center piece with each season. I have a similar one that I use only at Christmas, but maybe I'll take your idea!
Hi Mari - I love your fun Christmas decorations! Thanks for sharing the special things your family has and does to celebrate Christmas. I would love to add you to my Christmas card list. If that is OK, email me your address and I will get a card out to you! Merry Christmas. Enjoy your holiday!

It's a crazy time of the year isn't it? I'm finding it hard to get through everything so I don't blame you taking a break. I love your ornaments even the ugly one! Have a wonderful Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteMari, I am so glad that you shared your special ornaments with us before you went on your break! Those Santas that your husband carved are absolutely beautiful. What workmanship! And the bells from your wedding cake are beautiful. Thank you for sharing the stories behind each one. I had to laugh about the one that everyone deemed ugly! And it goes on the back of the tree. AHAHAHA.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Christmas, Mari.

I really enjoyed seeing some of your ornaments. I don't think those flower ones are ugly at all! I like them. It's always really fun to see the special, meaningful things people decorate with. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love the ornaments you shared Mari & especially the story or meaning behind each one. I especially love the ugly ornament story!! Lol
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Christmas & God bless. XO
Your ornaments are lovely, dear Mari! Christmas ornaments are one of my favorite things about this time of the year and I love hearing the stories behind them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. Hugs to you!
Of course you'd think I'd say I was partial to the carved Santas. That is true on any other day....but today, I think the one that outshines them all is the one you shared that your sister made of all the kids. Priceless.
ReplyDelete...sorry, sister in law.
ReplyDeleteAnd BTW, enjoy your family and the busy time of year. Will see you after the holidays.
I love looking at Bob's Santas every year. He is such a good carver.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that I love more then seeing different ornaments on Christmas trees is hearing the special stories behind them and I so enjoyed this post. Hugs... :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoying your site, Mari. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMari, I LOVE his carved Santas!! does he sell them? they are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMerry CHRISTmas Mari! I think that is a cool "ugly" ornament! I was going to do the same...take pics of my favorite ornaments. I probably still will, but they won't hold a candle to your wonderful photography. Oh well :)
