Christmas in our home
Welcome to our home! I thought I would show you some of the Christmas decorations at our place.
This sign sits in an old milk can next to our garage entry. The milk can is an old one from the farm I grew up on,
Here's our card holder. I love this time of year when the mailbox holds more than bills and junk mail. :)
This kissing ball hangs over our dining room table. It was a gift from a former resident who came in for rehabilitation and went back home.
This is our dining room wall. I have a big vase in the corner with branches in it. I always hang these little silver balls on the branches at Christmas.
I've shown this piece before. It is always on my table, and I change it out for every season.
I love snowmen! My sister Terri painted this collection for me quite a few years ago and I enjoy them every year.
This nativity set is another treasure. Our daughter Laura made it when she was about 16. I love the little animals she included.
This is one of Bob's carved Santa's sitting on the bookshelf.
This little candy holder always makes me smile. Not only is it cute, but it comes with good memories. The man who gave it to me was the husband of a resident that I really loved. After she passed away, he also came to the nursing home. He was a prankster and loved to tease me. He passed away about 2 years ago, but I think of him often.
My daughter Laura made this swag for me a few years ago.
Here's our tree. This year I added the burlap garland to it. I usually make a few changes every year.
We don't have a fireplace so our stockings hang on a shelf. The stockings are all the same, but the initials tell whose it is.
This nativity set is in our downstairs family room. It was new to us last year, but has been used by Bob's family since he was young. When his Mom downsized and moved into an independent living place last year, we inherited it. I love pieces like this with sentimental value.
This tree is in the family room downstairs. It's just a simple, little tree but it adds some Christmas charm to the room.
That's it for today - hope you enjoyed the tour!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Yep, that was me who deleted the previous comment. I sent a kissing ball to my mom--hers is pink though, not red and has the medallion as well. Thanks for the smiles. Blessings
ReplyDeleteI love your large Christmas tree, and the inherited nativity set, and the one your daughter made for you. The kissing ball is pretty, can you kiss underneath it? I saw it is hanging over a dining table, hope it brings out lots of kisses.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love your home and all the decorations. Thank you so much for sharing with us. I agree, that sentimental ones are the best.
ReplyDeleteI love, love the touches of Christmas! My favorite is the nativity that your daughter made. How did she do it?
ReplyDeleteThe card-holder looks like a fantastic idea!
ReplyDeleteMari, your decorations are so pretty and done in such good taste. I especially like the swag that your daughter Laura made for you...and the burlap garland is adorable. Your husband's carving talent is awesome! Love the Santa.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Such a beautiful and warm home, Mari. Your decorations are simply lovely for the Christmas season :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Monday! Hugs!
I sure did enjoy the tour. My favorite thing to see a photo of each year is your beautiful tree and the stripey stockings with big initials! But your door swag is beautiful too, and your nativity scenes. Laura is so talented. Merry Christmas Mari! xoxo
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful! I find it such a joy to get the post each day and find Christmas cards from friends near and far.
ReplyDeleteIt is all so homey and beautiful, Mari. Thanks for sharing your treasures with us. I really like the burlap garland on the tree. Very unusual, but lovely! I love that the stockings are all alike, except for the initial. Clever.
ReplyDeleteOh thanks for sharing Mari!! I loved seeing your decorations!
ReplyDeleteAnd what talented family members you have! Your sis did an amazing job on those snowmen. Same for your hubby with that carved Santa!!
But that nativity by your daughter is beyond precious and adorable. What a treasure!
I just love the burlap you added to your tree too. And those initials on the stockings - LOve love love!!
How very festive! And you got to add a new stocking this year!
ReplyDeleteI really love the kissing ball!

Oh Mari...I'm lovin' all this!!!
ReplyDeleteYou have shared some of the beauty of the season, with such heartfelt, family treasures.
And my heart skipped a beat with the Santa that Bob carved. Oooooooooh, Must remind myself "Thou shall not covet thy blogger's Santa".
Such lovely decorations, Mari. Your family, including yourself, so very talented.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the milk can because, yes, He is the reason for the season. Blessed assurance. xoxo
You have lots of pretty things with wonderful memories attached.
ReplyDeleteIt was a lovely tour of your home! You have some lovely Christmas things and lovely memories to go with them too, how great is that! xx
ReplyDeleteYou have so many things around your house! I'm still working on the porch but then I'm finished. I've dragged it all out this year mainly because I'm doing more for my parents. I'm not sure whether I'll show anything on my blog because really very little is new and I've shown it all before! I love all your things, very you!
ReplyDeleteSo many memories! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm getting a little worried that your shelf is going to come crashing down soon with all those stockings you're adding!
Do you have a stash of them hidden somewhere so you don't run out as the family gets bigger! :)
I love all of your decorations, but I love the painted snowmen the best. I guess it is because I do like snowmen also. Terri did a great job on these.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for Christmas cards!
ReplyDeleteAlso, your tree is beautiful!
