I have to work every other weekend and this was my weekend to work.
7:30am - I've been at work for half an hour. I've gotten report from the 11-7 nurse, stocked up my med cart and am ready to start the morning med pass. This is the time that we give out the most medications and I won't be done with this until about 9:45am. At noon I'll do another med pass, but it's much quicker than this one.
Since I can't share pictures of our residents for privacy reasons, I'll share a few other things seen around the Nursing home.
This is our resident bird, named Shakespeare. This bird is a girl, despite the male name and was named by a resident several years ago. She gets a lot of attention from the residents and visitors. She sits across from the nursing station and occasionally drives me crazy when she squawks while I'm on the phone. :)
Weekends can be a little quieter than weekdays because the department heads aren't there, we don't have people going out for appointments, Dr's don't come in... So, after I got my meds passed, treatments done and charting done I had time to work on a continuing education course. We have to do 2 or 3 of these a month, and it's nice to get started on the first day of the month.
This one was on vision and hearing loss in the elderly.
After a glance at the paper, I took a short nap too. We had a calm, quiet evening spent relaxing and enjoying a phone call from our son in Kentucky.
Although I really miss being able to go to church on my working weekends, it was still a nice day!
I miss lilacs. We can't grow them here in Florida. Thanks for sharing your June 1st with us, Mari. I'm up at 5:00 every morning during the week, and am happy I only have a few weekends each year to work. I wish you and all nurses so many blessings, though. Yours is not an easy job, and many times is unappreciated. Thank you for taking such good care of your patients - for them and for their families.
ReplyDeleteFun to have a peek into your day. I like your country road! This is a fun meme. I'll bet it's fun to read back over them after a year, getting a glimpse of how similar and different your days can be.
ReplyDeleteFive TEN? In the morning? Mmmmmmkay. Naps are GOOD! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! Your lilacs are beautiful as well as your drive to work. I imagine your job is quite fulfilling as it is so very important.

ReplyDeleteYour day was interesting, Mari! And now that my mother is in a nursing home, I'm SO thankful for people like you who are contributing to her welfare....
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I enjoy calm, quiet evenings, too. AND we were BOTH able to be in church and Sunday school this week after about 11 weeks!
You live in a beautiful place, I love lilacs and they smell so good. Sounds like you had a good day.

I loved this, Mari. I loved seeing what you do at your work and I loved seeing Bob taking a little nap. :) I took some pictures on Sunday. I don't think I could do it every month. I would forget about it.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your post! I always feel as though I know people better when they share their normal-life days. I enjoyed seeing where your work and though it's "usual" for you, it's not for us. A parrot, huh? LOL. Your husband looked like he was enjoying a good nap too!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this post Mari, it's very similar to my daily picture posts, and I love seeing what others are doing at their own house OR work :)
ReplyDeleteLove this post Mari, it's fun to see the daily life of others :)
ReplyDeleteYour hubby looks quite comfy there :) My lilacs I hate to say are all gone now :(

ReplyDeleteMy bad.
I always think this post is a great idea. It's really good to see what you get up to at work. You sound like you work hard even at the weekend!
ReplyDeleteNothing like a short nap! :D
I loved this! I might get brave enough to share one of my days soon!
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed the lilacs this year while in the states! We don't have them in Argentina, so I am always happy when they bloom while we're back here :)
