I was thinking about who I could do something for and it struck me that when we do something like this, it's usually for people we don't know. That's fine, but I thought it would be fun to do something nice for my hubby who is so good to me!
He loves baked goods, so I made a double batch of chocolate chip cookies and brought a batch to his work. The cookies all disappeared before he came home. He said they all liked them.
I packaged up another batch of cookies for some people who have been working long hours and are often not shown much appreciation - the road commission guys. With the winter we've had they've been working a lot of double shifts and weekends, but I still seem to hear a lot of complaints about mailboxes that are knocked over and plows throwing snow into peoples driveways.I don't even know where the base is for our local guys, but I know someone whose husband does this. I brought this batch to her workplace and told her to have her husband take them to work, with thanks for clearing our roads.
It was fun doing this and I'm looking forward to next week!
Oh, I love it! What a great idea. I think I'll send goodies to my hubby's work, too. Maybe next week.
ReplyDeleteThe road crew...that's brilliant. I'm sure they are exhausted. I bet they hear lots of complaints and not many thanks. You probably stunned them with the cookies! :)
Thanks for joining in! So much fun!
Oh, this is wonderful! I know the cookies were very much appreciated. Bless you!
ReplyDeleteComing over from Betsy. Love what you did. How sweet to do it for your hubby.
ReplyDeleteAnd the road crew...Wow.How they must have appreciated your act of kindness.
Isn't this going to be fun!
What a meaningful way to show appreciation, Mari! I would have loved to see that road crew with those cookies. Bet they didn't last long at all!
ReplyDeleteI joined in on something like this, over on Facebook. I have six people to do a random act of kindness for, sometime during 2014. Any random act of kindness is a good thing! I love your idea to give cookies to the road crews. Much deserved, and I'm sure they loved it.
ReplyDeleteI love the road crew idea. I just might have to do that for our guys too - great way to show our appreciation for them!
ReplyDeleteHow very thoughtful, and the road crews work in hard conditions and probably get complaints so they will doubly appreciate your goodies.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautitul idea...
ReplyDelete...both, such sweet endearing works of kindness Mari!! In all honesty, I think your commentary was a wonderful act of kindness for you sharing what you did. Made us all feel good inside.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea. Blessings
ReplyDeleteI actually thought about bringing treats to our city's road crew this week--our local roads have been plowed much better than the county or state roads!
ReplyDeleteI love that you did this for the road commission guys- such a great idea!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea - and REALLY good-looking cookies :)
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome idea for the "Month of Love." Those cookies look delicious!
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely idea, Mari. We would all be much happier if we worked less at "solving" our own problems and worked more at lightening the burdens of others. Everybody's having a tough time! Thanks for this most inspirational post. I know the recipients of your kindness and generosity will be touched and warmed by both. xoxo
ReplyDeleteHow sweet! I love the big bow around the plate of cookies. This is good inspiration for me, thanks!!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea Mari!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Kat
A random act of kindness no matter how small is ever wasted. You did good, Mari!
ReplyDeleteMy first trip to your blog and glad I stopped by. This is an awesome idea. I want to do something now.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea Mari, I bet they all enjoyed their home baked cookies :)
ReplyDeleteTwo great choices of blessing for sure!!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! What a great idea!!
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful! I've been thinking of doing something similar because being penned up with no school has gotten me down.
ReplyDeleteNeed to do a little of that myself! Thanks for your prayers.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Shame I can't cook!
ReplyDeleteSmart idea!
ReplyDeleteI might follow it :)
And so nicely done! with the way you put the colorful ribbon on the top.
