It's time for Work's for Me Wednesday, hosted by Kristen of We are THAT Family. Head over to her blog to see what other bloggers are sharing today.
It's apple season and I thought I would share some apple information from a chart I found in a magazine. It has helped me know what apple to choose, instead of standing in the produce section, guessing!

Mari this is very helpful! All we ever used to have around here were McIntosh and Golden and Red Delicious! Love the varieties that are available today. Right now my fav is Gala!
ReplyDeleteI had a Honeycrisp apple for supper tonight. I am beginning to really like them. I bought a couple more today for my suppers this week. They are HUGE!
ReplyDeleteHandy dandy! I love granny smith apples. We'd never had honeycrisp until we came here.
ReplyDeletegreat chart,thank you sharing it.
ReplyDeletegreat chart,thank you sharing it.
ReplyDeleteMmmm I always look for Braeburns! But I do love me a Golden Delish. I can't live without apples. I'll bet yours are just better there in Michigan, Mari. I hope to be able to get up toward Boone, NC, this fall and get me some at a roadside stand. Those are always special.
ReplyDeleteWe live in apple country. And berry, and nut, and .....You get the idea! Have you tried Honeycrisp? It's a fairly new variety and oh so delicious. Sweet yet tangy and very crisp, as the name implies.
ReplyDeleteNice idea, really. I often eat "gala", but use Granny smith for pies ;)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day
I used to think an apple was an apple. Who knew there could be so much variety?
ReplyDeleteI love Honeycrisps for snacking.
I use Granny Smiths when I bake a Dutch Apple Pie, and Golden Delicious when I bake a pastry pie. Maybe I'll branch out and try some other varieties this year. Maybe! *grin*
What is it my mouth begins to water when I see pictures of apples? Like your list.
ReplyDeleteIn Colorado, the Jonathons are the BEST ever for baking and just eating off the tree....but here in Texas they're somewhat mealy instead of the crisp they should be. I find that the Royal Gala are best...tart, crisp and juicy!!
ReplyDeleteFor baking I use Granny Smith, Jonathon or Royal Gala.
The worst for me is the red delicious. Blah!
Now I understand why Red Delicious is one of my favorites!! SWEET! :) Gotta love apples!
ReplyDeleteIt's even more interesting to hear everyone's opinion on their favorites. I don't think there is an apple I'd turn down in a freshly baked pie. Some may be bettter then others..but oh, they all smell so good in a fresh hot pie!
ReplyDeletewe have a lot of fuji and gala apples here.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this.
We love the honey crisp apples! Combine that with a little carmel, and yum!!!
ReplyDeleteI gifted my dad with some heirloom apples trees a few years ago. There are so many varieties out there we never get the chance to sink out teeth into!
ReplyDeleteWow! Thanks. My favorite is the Gala apple....yum! I just had one for my snack this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kat
