Cooking Thursday

Here it is, almost Thursday and time for another recipe! Make sure you stop over at Sandra's place to see what everyone else is cooking!

I got the recipe I'm sharing today from Sara, of Make Music from your heart to the Lord.
My picture doesn't do it justice because it's all wrapped in the tortilla. You'll just have to take my word for it that it was good. It was easy too, and it's a bonus that it's a crock pot recipe!

Crock Pot Carne Asada

2 1/2 pounds lean stew meat
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 teaspoon oregano
12 ounces beef broth
2 fresh jalapenos, chopped
1 small onion, cut into eighths

In a large ziploc bag, combine the chili powder, cumin, salt, garlic and oregano until blended. Put meat into bag and shake to cover it with the spices. Refrigerate overnight.
In the morning, put the meat in the crockpot, along with the onion and jalapenos. Pour beef broth over all.
Cover and cook on low for 6 - 8 hours.
Shred meat with 2 forks and serve with your favorite garnishes in flour tortillas.

  6. Sounds yummy. You know, I've had the real stuff made by my Mexican son in law. He got the seasoned and shaved beef right from the Mexican market and grilled it. It was fabulous!!! Of course mine was not seasoned, but still yummy!
