Works for me Wednesday

Have you ever had to bring a food item away, but didn't have a carrier to put it in?
Heather had this problem last week, when she was going to bring a cake to a gathering and didn't have a cake carrier.
Then, I remembered something my sister used at Christmas to carry a pie in:

Get out a big Rubbermaid or Tupperware bowl.

Set your cake on top of the lid.

Place the bowl over top and seal it.
Voila! An impromptu cake/pie... carrier!

Mari,

Wow and all this time when I thought I didn't have a cake carrier, I had one the whole time. Thanks for this smart and economical tip!

It's these things that make me feel like I'm really not as creative as I think I am ;) This is ingenious! I have two cake carriers because of last minute having to take a cake/pie somewhere & all the while I had at least 3 in the cabinet!! LOL.... =)

What a great idea! EVeryone has a big Tupperware bowl. I will think of this next time I need a cake carrier.
Hope Heather is doing ok!

Excellent!!! I consider Tupperware the cast iron of our times...it lasts forever. And it's always a handy dandy cake carrier!!!

Great Idea! I could have used that last week wednesday. I don't think it would have saved my cake though! It looked pretty pathetic!

great idea - now I just have a bake a cake. I've been hungry for a yellow cake with chocolate frosting. (But I want to keep it instead of giving it away.) ha ha

I'm baaaaccccckk!

I often invert a large bowl to keep a cake fresh on my counter. Especially if it has frosting that I don't want to damage with saranwrap.

What a brilliant idea!

It works for me. Tie strings around it evenly and you have a handle.
Now for a sliver of that cake :-)

I never thought to use a bowl for a cake taker. I am always without mine because I take cake to someone's home and then don't get it back for a bit. Then I go to make a cake and I am stuck. Not anymore!

Thanks for the super tip!

Mari, I have that same exact bowl and never even thought of using it as a cake carrier because I acually have a very old tupperware cake holder that travels nicely. I will certainly remember this trick! Thanks for the tip! :)
