Heather had an appointment with a neurology specialist today. Before I give you that report, I have to share some pictures of the morning.
Have you been in any of the public bathrooms that have the new high pressure hand dryers? I used it this morning, then made Heather come in and use her young hands for a demonstration. She was a little worried about what people would think if they saw us both go into the bathroom, then heard us talking about taking pictures, but for your benefit she agreed. :)

And here it is under the dryer. Can you see how much force is coming from that dryer? That's why I wanted a young hand - who knows what my hand would have looked like!

Now for the report:
The Dr said that from the reports and talking to us, it doesn't necessarily look like a seizure, but it can't be ruled out either. She also conferred with another neurologist and they decided to start her on a low dose of an anti-seizure drug. One of the main reasons for doing this is the fact that Heather is diabetic. If she should have this confusion again, and not turn off her insulin pump or forget to eat it could be dangerous. This drug is one that is known for rarely having side effects and not interacting with other medications. One thing that will be a little difficult is that she can't drive now for 6 months, so we will be doing a little bit of taxi service, but that's a small price.
She will also be having another EEG in a few weeks. This will be longer and more in depth than the one in the hospital, so maybe something will be seen there.
Thanks for your prayers and concerns. God has truly taken care of Heather through this and given us all a sense of peace as well.

Thankful the doctors are continuing to do more tests to clarify the situation.
ReplyDeleteWOW..what a forceful dryer!
Blessings, andrea
Thanks for the update.!
ReplyDeleteOh Mari, I've been thinking about Heather. I'm glad the doctors are staying on top of things. Keep us updated.
ReplyDeleteWow...that hand dryer is scary!
Hugs!
Kat
Mari, I was just thinking of your daughter and got on her specifically to see if you had an update for us. I'm glad to hear the doctors are still trying to get to the bottom of this and not just throwing their hands in the air. I'll keep praying for answers and a solution!
ReplyDeleteThat is one powerful hand dryer! I'd hate to see what it would do to your face.....it might blow an eye out or somethin'! LOL
Oh Mari...
ReplyDeleteGod is so good to us. He is looking after your precious Heather, and we know she is going to be okay. God Bless Her Heart. I will be praying that this medication is the right for her, and she will not run into any more problems.
I can just see you two going into the bathroom, and drawing a little bit of a crowd when they heard you were going to take pictures. Ha! Ha! Ha! You so made my evening sweetie.
Thank you as you aer so precious.
Have a good one. Country hugs and much love, Sherry
Heather has a great team working with her. That is a blessing. Hope that she continues to do very well.
ReplyDeleteThe dryer is pretty forceful. I wonder if it blows away germs?
Wow it sure is a strong dryer and it's a GOOD THING she wasn't driving when she got confused!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update on Heather. We will keep her on our prayer list and be praying for her.
ReplyDeleteAs you know, I'm standing along side of you and praying for Heather.
ReplyDeleteAs for the hand dryer...I just used one for the first time in Chicago. It just about blew my skin off, LOL. I thought it was so cool I wanted to use it again, but felt silly with all the women in the restroom. Leave it to you to take a photo...bawahahahaha! Mari, your rock!
Heather is in my thoughts and prayers!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh...that is some powerful dryer. Kinda scary if you think about it.
I'm feeling better today some, and wanted to stop by and thank you for the 'get well wishes' you sent along.
Your in my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to hear that Heather is doing well. Glad the Dr. is keeping his eye on it.
ReplyDeleteI'm real glad I was not with you guys when you took the picture of the hand - I have a mental picture of what my hand would have looked like.... I don't let my hands hang down anymore for fear I will scare people. Ha ha Humor is a good thing to have when one grows old or older.
I love your dryer demonstration! A while back I experienced one of those and it nearly blew off my rings. They are so fun!
ReplyDeleteThe first time I used one of those dryers was at the mall in Virginia. There aren't many around yet, but they have one at the office in our dentist's office, where we were just Wednesday! The good thing is, they dry your hands FAST.
ReplyDeleteGlad for the update on Heather and that she lives right there with you so you can be her taxi service. Hope you get some more definitive answers with the next EEG.
Thanks for the update on Heather. She has a lot of prayer support. :)
ReplyDeleteThose dryers scare my little guy to death. It only took one time hearing that noise, and now he doesn't want to even go in if there is one in there. It doesn't matter how badly he has to go.
I saw a new dryer in Chicato. It was shaped like a U and you put your hands down in it. Took me a while to figure out it was a dryer! L0l! But it worked.
Thanks for the update Mari. I'm glad that the doctors are looking into her health very carefully.
ReplyDeleteThose hand dryers scare my daughter!
contined prayers for heather as they work through her issues.
ReplyDeletei LOVE those dryers. they are the only ones in the world that actually dry my hands.
My middle sister (Emily's mom) had to be put on anti-seizure meds quiet a while back. She had a grand mal (sp?) seizure while she was sleeping and made a MESS of her tongue from biting it. It was really weird. She hasn't had any symptoms of it since just that one time. Still very scary.
ReplyDeleteThe part about the dryers... I thought you were going to say it blew her ring right off because I think they could. LOL!
Thanks for the update on Heather. I was wondering how she was doing and if there were any more results from tests. I'll be waiting with you to see how she does on this anti-seizure medicine. I'm sure she will miss the driving. Someone in our S.S. just got back to driving, after having to wait 6 mos. after a seizure and she's been so happy to have her wheels again!
ReplyDeleteMari,
ReplyDeleteWho would have thought this was possible from a hand dryer? Yikes, I guess I'll be using paper towels instead.
So glad that they have some answers for Heather right now and that God will continue to guide her doctors in finding out exactly what is going on. Keeping her close to my prayers!
Love and Hugs ~ Kat
Glad that the Dr.s are getting at least some ideas of what to try to avoid future serious troubles. Praying for continued discoveries regarding what to do to prevent the problem.
ReplyDeleteI was so shocked the first time I used one of those dryers. I kept punching the button to see it happen again. I couldn't believe the force.
So glad for the update on Heather, I've been praying for her. She is blessed to be in a loving home and to have a nurse for a Mom is even better!
ReplyDeleteWOW! that's some kind of hand dryer!
Will continue praying for Heather, especially that there will not be any interaction with medications. Also for the upcoming EEG that it will be helpful in determining the exact problem.
ReplyDeleteThat is one strong dryer! Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteThat hand dryer is crazy !!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear a good report.
Thanks for the report on Heather Mari. And may I say I am sadly disappointed I will not see your hand under that dryer!!!!
ReplyDeletePraying that this medicine is a success for Mari. I love those high powered hand dryers too!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear about Heather, I've been praying for her :) Hope the new medicine works for her.
ReplyDeleteAs for the dryers, good grief, those are ridiculous aren't they? They have the power to fling you across the bathroom LOL
Glad you have a plan now for Heather, she deserves the best.
ReplyDeleteThose hand dryers are something, have you ever experienced the new super flush toilets... down right dangerous !!!!
Glad the doctors are taking extra caution and being pro-active with Heather.
ReplyDeleteThose dryers sound like an airplane to boot!

ReplyDeleteI have a niece who has to be on anti-seizure meds. I can't remember what her first symptoms were. I'll try to remember to ask her.
ReplyDeleteI HATE those crazy hand dryers! It seems they have them everywhere I go anymore. Destiny thinks they're hysterical, especially when she sees my loose skin blow around!
Mari,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that the doctors are taking care of Heather. She has a good support within her family. I've added her to my prayer list.
I used those high power dryers when we were in the US after Christmas. At least they dry your hands. LOL
Take care. Enjoy your Sunday
Blessings,
Mary
