I imagine all of you have been feeling a lot like I have this week, after the events in Haiti. It’s so terrible that I feel I can’t even begin to comprehend it. Our church has had many people go on short term mission trips there and many people have a relationship with a Haitian church that is near us. One of the Haitian pastors came and spoke at our service this morning. He has not heard from his family yet, so is very concerned about them. Yet, he could say “I love my God and He is in control”. What a testimony!
It reminds me of a quote, written by a Jew on the wall of a cellar in the Cologne concentration camp.
“I believe in the sun, even when it’s not shining.
I believe in love, even when there’s no one there.
And I believe in God, even when He appears to be silent”
God is still in control! Please keep praying for the people of Haiti!
Mari,
ReplyDeleteI love that quote from the Cologne concentration camp. What faith. I can't imagine living under the conditions in those camps, but I know that God and his angels were there.
Love the photo. I'm praying for all those in Hait.
Blessings,
Mary
Love this post...the photo is beautiful and the quote is one to remember.
ReplyDeleteHugs!

Great posting,thank you for it.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that what faith is all about, believing when we can't see? He is there, always.
ReplyDeleteI heard on the news tonight of one of the churches here in Colo. Spgs. having a young man from their congregation missing in Haiti.
Beautiful photo, beautiful reminder.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great quote and what faith.
ReplyDeleteSusan
Thanks, that was really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely.
ReplyDeletebeautiful post and great quotes.
ReplyDeletemy thoughts and prayers for the Haitians.
We should all carry that quote in our hearts constantly.
ReplyDeleteMy husband said he wished he were younger and healthier..he'd be on his way to Haiti to help. We can still help with our prayers.
A great quote - I saw people on TV in Haiti worshiping where their church once was and singing "Great is Thy Faithfulness" I just cried!
ReplyDeleteDon't you wonder when it is all going to end?

Great post Mari. And that is faith! To know that God is in control even when the circumstances seem to show the opposite.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how many people have a connection down there, especially the missionaries and their groups, isn't it? Thank you for sharing your story.
ReplyDeleteI love the quote you shared as well. It was new to me.
When I climb in my bed at night, I think about what those people are going through and my heart breaks. They are in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteI just read an article this morning that the gangs are now forming and trying to take control. The Haitians had 4,000 police and some have been killed or hurt so now it is down to 1500. It is a daunting task to protect the people from the gangs. The people have to sleep on their belongings but without electricity and light, they are robbed and raped. We need to keep praying for them now even more than we did.
ReplyDeleteI am wondering about the protection of missionaries if they are still there. I pray for your visiting pastor and his family. God help them!
What a beauitful quote-thank you for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteI love that quote. I hope I could say the same in such terrible conditions.
ReplyDeleteWell. Beautifully said. You're making a 'follower' out of me! I just stumbled upon your site tonight & I think I'm hooked. I was just telling a friend these same words on Facebook earlier. The Hope for Haiti concert was on & I'd made a comment (status) about the beautiful music. She said "THIS is making ME feel HORRIBLE"... I told her it shouldn't make her feel horrible, but yet beautiful...etc...and that God WILL provide for them just as they did for us (she/me) down here in Hurricane Katrina's front yard (she lost everything). If there's one thing I could get her to understand is that God IS there even when we feel he is silent...
ReplyDeleteWe seem to be pulling together on Haiti..and that is such a blessing.
ReplyDeletePerhaps God is telling us to "do unto others..."
