So - we have a spare room that I call my scrapbooking room, Bob calls it the office, but what it often is, is a mess! We have a computer and printer in it, along with 2 large tables to work on. Here's where the problem is. Those tables seem to ask for things to be put on them. If I have things I'm planning to send to Andy, I bring them in here. If I have something that needs to be returned to someone - this is where it goes. On top of that, if we are working on something, it is spread out here too, and soon it looks like a mess.
Monday, I was working, but Bob had the day off. Heather was home in the morning and the two of them did some cleaning. They sorted through the things on the tables and then Bob had a brainstorm.
Good idea, don't you think?
Just to show you that Bob works in this room too, here are some of his carvings that he is in the process of painting. He's getting ready for a craft show at church.
i suggest a giveaway of one of those awesome carvings? haha. that is a wonderful hobby. it also looks like you have some creative memories albums on that dresser! my favorite. i would love to see your photo albums with all the great pictures that you take.
ReplyDeleteIt is so much fun to be able to use items from one room to make the other room look nice. It is great to have an extra room for all the "stuff". Bob's carvings look great too. Can't wait for the church craft show.
ReplyDeletedressers in the closet are a great idea...I think it enlarges a room's spaciousness nicely...that's what we had to do in our bdrm...which I hope to show you during that open house...I hope to have soon!
ReplyDeleteI'll give you a wreath if you give me a carving...
ReplyDeleteOkay, you were a smarty. Or maybe I should say Bob and Heather were smarties. That dresser was a really good solution. Great job!
Carving? Me? Please?
Mari, thanks for your reply and answering all of my questions, I do appreciate it. My email is deje34@msn.com I will be gone until late Saturday night...I'm off to finish packing now....leaving early in the morning to a Women of Faith Conference. I would love to chat with you some more when I get back. Thanks for being a blessing!
ReplyDeleteTerrific idea. Gives the room more 'working' room with the clutter gone, right?
ReplyDeleteAnd those Santas? Are they wood carvings? HO Boy....I collect Sanats y'know!!!!
Wowzers.
Mari,
ReplyDeleteDon't we all have one of those rooms 1 i am setting in mine right now.. Now your husband and daughter were using their brains in the clean up. LOL Great idea and looks like it works.
What a smart hubby you have there. Bet those carving go fast .They will mean more to people knowing the carver.
Thank you for your kind comment on my blog. You are always so uplifting and encouraging.
have a blessed Friday
I wish I had one of those rooms but right now the kids take up all the extra rooms :) Maybe in the next few years the 18 yr old will decide to stretch his wings and I will get my craft room....
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed that your husband did that clean-up thing!!
ReplyDeleteHe is also very talented in carving.
Mari,
ReplyDeleteYou have such a wonderful daughter and hubby that would tackle that task so efficiently together and make your day! How wonderful. The dresser idea is perfect! I love how it fits in the closet too!
I agree that you should do a giveaway with those adorable carvings or set up an Etsy store and sell them.
Love and Hugs ~ Kat
*sigh* i desperately need to work on my junk...erm...i mean hobby room
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!
ReplyDeleteI'd say your hubby and daughters are keepers! The room looks great!
ReplyDeleteThat will be an adventure! You'll probably have fun going through all the stuff. It's always amazing to see what we have gathered over the years. I like the Santas too!
ReplyDeleteHe's a genius! He's also a wonderful woodworker -- those Santas are adorable!
ReplyDeleteThe dresser in the closet is a great idea! Hmmmmm...that gets me to thinking.
ReplyDeleteGood idea w/the dresser. I want to go to the craft fair where these carvings will be for sale.
ReplyDeleteSee you on Wednesday!
They are such organizers, and very helpful. Better keep them around!!!
ReplyDeleteUsing the dresser makes perfect sense, Mari. Looks pretty organized to me.
ReplyDeleteMari,
ReplyDeleteThe dresser in the closet is a wonderful idea. It will help keep things organized but tables seem to be catch-alls. My kitchen table is an old oak one that was Grandma's. It catches everything. I must clean it at least twice a day.
Love Bob's little carvings. I'm sure he'll do well at the craft fair.
Enjoy your weekend, my friend. Hope you are off.
Blessings,
Mary
Brrrrilliant!
ReplyDelete(I will not covet her workspace,I will not covet her workspace,I wi0ll not covet her workspace,...
;oD
What a guy! Way to go Bob! I like that idea!!!
ReplyDeleteYou had better love on that man for taking initiative and helping you organize. My precious husband is a pack rat and I'm constantly on him to sort, sort, sort!!!! Love him dearly, but he has a hard time organizing.
ReplyDeleteHats off to Bob and Heather!
I had one of those rooms but right now the kids take up all the extra rooms :) Maybe in the next few years the 18 yr old will decide to stretch his wings and I will get my craft room....
ReplyDeleteWork From Home
Very good idea , I wish I had a room like that with a closet . I really don't have any closets in my old home . I hung a closet unit on the wall of our bed room like you would in a closet and that works . They did good .
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed going through that huge home . Couldn't believe they had so much modern things way back then .
Please pray for my daughter , grand daughter and our school kids , Band and chorus . They left last night around 11:30 Pm after the game for Washington D C . Hoping and praying they are having a safe , fun trip .
Thanks , Mary
Hi Mari,
ReplyDeleteThis is such a positive post...it lifted up my spirits really. What a bright idea to bring in that piece of furniture and convert it into something really useful.
Thanks for your frequent visits to my blog. You have really encouraged my heart, dear Mari.
Love
Lidj
That Bob sure had a good idea. You should rent him out...lol. His figurines are looking good.
ReplyDeleteI love it Mari (and Bob) !! That dresser in the closet is an incredible idea !! And I love that the drawers and not just for storage but for projects that are on the go, and storing the stuff to send to Andy. It's genius, I tell you ! Genius !!!
ReplyDeleteWe were/are doing some cleaning too. I love the Santas for the church sale. Hugs to you both!
ReplyDeleteOoh, Santas!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the room! I wish I could get motivated to organize. :)
I have a similiar room that we called the craft room for the first couple of years we lived. Now I call it the spare room and my husband usually calls it the crap room (he thinks he's so funny). we've talked about making it a sitting room but I somehow can't get beyond just throwing stuff in there. It would take a lot more work than what your husband and daughter did to yours. I clean it out about every 6 months or so...I'm just about due now!
