Heritage Park and Garden

We were at our township park the other night and had a chance to wander around and enjoy some of the unique things there.
.

We have a memorial section, where there are statues commemorating the sacrifice made by the servicemen in each war. They stand in a circle around the flag. Here is one of them.

On one corner of the park is a house that was built by one of the early settlers of our town. The historical society maintains a heritage garden on the grounds.
Here is a collage of many of the flowers we saw.
.

Here are a few more pictures of the grounds. This last flower is called a moon lily. It opens up at night.
Sometimes we take for granted the things that are in our area and don't pay too much attention to them. It was nice to look around and appreciate the work that has been done here.

  1. Mari,

I am a sucker for purple flowers! If they have it I love them.

My favorite out of what pictures you took, the moon lily! It reminds me of our nightblooming jasmine! It's nice to see flowers bloom all day and night.

  4. Mari,
    The soldier makes me wonder?
We don't see the soldiers of the cross given honor here publicly . But yet I could think of many when I looked at your picture.
Many have given their lives to defend our land but many have given their lives to defend our cross. One day , they too will receive honor where it counts for something .
It is good for a township to give honor to those who serve.
I enjoyed this post . How approbate that you show the flowers that are blooming so beautiful there next to those who fought that the town could be free to show its beauty.

  11. Very pretty. I've never seen a flower that opens up at night. Loved how you did the flower collage in the middle, too. I'm going to have to learn how to do that. Demara does it all the time too.

  14. Your little corner of the world is very beautiful. We need to seek out the beauty more, and look at the weeds less, although some weeds can be very pretty!

  17. Mari,

What a great photo of the statue. I'm glad they've commemmorated the service of the servicemen in each war. I would love to see the one for the Civil War.

The flowers are beautiful. I especially love the moon lily. I had those one year but they never came back and I've never found them again.

Yeap, I feel great about the kitchen.

Have a great rest of the week.
    Blessings,
    Mary
