Tuesday marks 6 years since my Mom passed away. I was talking to my sister Terri about her recently and we remarked about the fact that neither of us remember her ever getting really angry with us. Yes, she would punish us but she was able to remain remarkable calm in the middle of it. (We did think maybe that was because we were such easy kids!) I can only hope my kids have such good memories of me!
I grew up on a farm and my Mom worked hard. I remember all the canning and freezing she did. I remember all the laundry hanging on the line and the ironing that needed to be done. She had a good sense of humor, which was a good thing because my Dad loved to tease her! Most of all she loved her kids. I never heard her complain about bringing us to any activities or going herself to support us. She was always proud of us and when the grand kids arrived, I think they were even better than us! She loved spending time with her family.
Mom was only 69 when she passed away, but she was a Christian so I can be secure in the knowledge that I will see her in heaven!
Mari,
ReplyDeleteYour mom must have been pretty special alright...you and your sisters are just precious.
I do hope my kids have good memories of me too. I have some great ones of my mom. I so understand the hurt of missing your mom.
When we get to Heaven I look forward to introducing my mom to you and yours!
Mari, What a beautiful testiment to your mother and her abilities as a role model. This post made me stop and think. Sadly enough, my kids have seen me yell and get mad. But this post makes me stop and think of the example I am setting.
ReplyDeleteI am sure you are just the same, Mari! A great mom!
Thanks for sharing. I will be thinking of you and Terri and pray that fond meories will allow you to celebrate her life rather than mourn the loss.
IN prayer.
Mari,
ReplyDeleteI can't remember my mother every getting angry with us either. I don't remember her ever punishing us. We pretty much knew to behave or we'd have Dad to deal with.
It sounds like your mother was a wonderful woman and I know you miss her, but you will see her again some day.
Blessings,
Mary

ReplyDeletei know it must be difficult, but it sounds like you were blessed to have an amazing mother.
She must have been a wonderful mother and too young to die. I know that you will see her in heaven and that is such a comforting thought.
ReplyDeleteWhat great memories you and your sibs have of your mother. Unless you put up a huge front I can see now where you get your attitude and humor. I'm sure your children feel the same about you.....;) Kae
ReplyDeleteSo many blessings. The greatest is to know that one day you'll see her again in heaven. The memories you and your sisters have are so precious, left by a remarkable monther who demonstrated her love to her children daily.
ReplyDeleteThis post reminds me of my own mother, many years ago hanging the clothes outside to dry..never complaining, but loving taking care of her family. Thank you for stiring up those memories.
"When we all get to Heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be!".
