Sunshine

I was driving to work early in the morning last week. It was still dark, very cold and the snow was blowing around. I thought it was a somewhat dreary scene. It occurred to me that if God had not given us a sun, this would be what our world would be like; dark and cold. I know that if we literally didn't have the sun we couldn't survive, but it was just one of those moments that reminded me of God's love for us. He could have created a world where it was always light, or always dark. It could have been a world that wasn't warmed by the sun and just remained a steady temperature. But He didn't do things that way! He gave us a sun, and then a moon. He gave us beautiful plants and animals. Then, only after all those things were in place, He made man. Too often, I take the world around me for granted. Thank you Lord, for this beautiful world you have blessed us with!

  1. What a wonderful thought! I feel like that when the leaves are changing here, it's so beautiful. The Country Gentlemen (a bluegrass group) does this song called "God's Coloring Book" that is just awesome. Reminds me of what you were saying.

  2. We all tend to forget to take in our surroundings and all that God created. Those quiet moments in the car seem to be a good place to to remind ourselves to give thanks.

  3. The cold does make us appreciate spring! Every season has its purpose. We are just lucky to enjoy four seasons.

  9. Amen! Our world would be boring without the sun, the moon & the stars...sometimes I just look at our world in awe of His creations.

    Have a Wonderful Wednesday,
    Kathi :)

  10. Mari,

What an intriguing thought you've posted today. Yes, we could have been in a much different world, but God knows what is good for His children and made a world full of natural beauty. Thanks for the reminder.

Are you getting snow? The frigid temperatures broke and last night about midnight it began to snow and is still snowing. Be sure to stay safe and warm.

    Blessings,
    Mary

  17. I like your thoughts this morning. I need to be more appreciative of what God has done. I bought a notebook the other day in order to start writing down my praises. I must be intentional about it or I won't do it. Thank you for your post.

  19. I was so touched by a photo showing gentle waves on a shore, with a leaning picket fence and the sun rising into a cloudy sky. Celebrate the Day! I hope you are hanging onto your good spirits and health at the nursing home.

  21. Love your observation of what we all take for granted.. I've always been a sun lover, and I never stopped to think of it like that. Kinda makes the ugly days "able to stand" cause we know beauty is again on it's way.
