We are back from our little getaway. We left on Monday morning. It was kind of a dreary day, with little rain showers occasionally, but we had a great time anyway. It was nice to relax and spend some uninterrupted time together. We didn't have a set plan on what we were doing, but just drove avoiding highways and trying to remain near to the lake shore. We again marveled at the beauty God has given us to enjoy in this world.
This is an area near Arcadia. It said scenic turnout and we stopped to check it out. I got out of the car and said "Oh good, we get to climb steps!" Bob looked at me like I was crazy, but I figured there had to be a great view at the top. The picture above shows what the stairs look like from half way up.
.
.
We met another couple at the top who offered to take this picture. We actually ran into them again at another point in the day.

.
This is the place we stayed at. It is called the Betsie Bay Inn. It's an old Inn that has been restored. Each room is different and we enjoyed our stay.
.
The Inn has a wine cellar and guests are given a free wine tasting. This is just a portion of their wine area. It's big enough that they can have a group of people there. We tasted 3 different wines. (just la small amount of each - not 3 wine glasses full!) We liked 2 of them and didn't care for the other. It was a fun thing to do.
Tomorrow I'll post about our day Tuesday.
It sounds like you had a great day. That Inn looks amazing!!! :)
ReplyDeleteMari, the pictures are beautiful. I would love to go just see the sunset with a lighthouse in my view. How neat.
ReplyDeleteThe stairs - I could do without those!
Perri

ReplyDeleteI love that area of the state, but sorry to say I haven't been there in a while. I'd have to pass on those stairs - WOW - but what a view if you can climb them!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had such a great time, I love the pictures!
When I first so the stairs I thought you finally went to Niagara, then I kept reading. It looks like a lot of fun, and so pretty. What a lovely inn.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait until my kiddos get up tomorrow morning and I can show them the picture of that truck. They're going to love it. I'm curious who will yell "banana" first.
Glad you're back safe.

ReplyDeleteMari,
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun trip together. It looks like something Paul and I would do together. I have never been wine tasting before. I think I have immature taste buds. If there was a fudge tasting factory I would be there in a hot minute!
Welcome back!
Beautiful pictures! I love that sunset. What fun.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back.
