Neighborhood wildlife

Several of our neighbors have cats that like to visit us. They seem to like to sit near the front steps and taunt our cat with the knowledge that they are free to run outside and all she can do is watch them out the front door. About 3 weeks ago, I came home from work on a day that Bob and Heather both had off. They said the cat from across the street had been sitting on our porch and - "you won't believe what they did to their cat". They informed me the cat had a new look. It got a lion haircut. Did they take a picture for me? No. So I had to wait. Now usually this cat is around a lot, but Heather thought she was ashamed of her new look and didn't want to come out. Well, finally she has come back to visit.
Keep in mind that her hair has grown quite a bit since the initial cut. It was shaved quite close on her body, except the mane around her head. She usually has quite long hair all over. So what do you think? Some people must like this. If you cut your cat's hair this way, I hope you aren't offended but it looks silly to me!

  1. Oh that poor cat!! I don't think she likes it and she or he looks sad. Maybe that's why it comes to your house it wants to get away from who ever did that.

  2. How bizzare! I can't imagine shaving a cat for anything other than surgery.
Like my granny always said though..."Takes all kinds to make a world."

  3. I agree, that cat looks silly. I think that's humiliation on it's face. I totally understand, I've had my share of bad haircuts too.

  4. Fur is a cat's crowning glory - its pride and joy! You don't SHAVE a cat! I would be 100% surprised to hear that poor cat hasn't found some way to perpetrate retaliatory measures against the human who did that to him/her. Cats do not take kindly to indignities done them by humans.

    Poor kitty.

  5. Poor cat! Our neighborhood wildlife includes a number of stray cats as well as a skunk that apparently has the nerve to live under our shed!! Of course we never see it, just smell it. We're trying to figure out the best way to send it packing.

I loved what you said about the drama team. Imagining God being actively involved in the answering of our prayers is so touching.

  7. Check out my post today! I linked to yours.
Your neighbor's cat looks a little better than the one I posted, but I think they are rather unique!

  8. Who would do that to a poor kitty? No wonder she went into hiding!

  12. I have a long hair cat that will need to be shaved due to matting, they do need to be groomed at times. No I would not do it all the time though, oh well. . .
