This weekend I was doing some shopping with my daughters when Heathers cell phone rang. She says - "it's Dad. He was hanging a cabinet and it fell on his head. He says it's bleeding like crazy and he can't see it and doesn't know if he needs stitches or what." Well - that's a great feeling. I am too far away to run over there and don't know how bad he's hurt himself. He called his brother to come check it out. They decided he didn't need stitches. Tom said his pupils were okay and Bob was acting normal. Tom put a big bandage on and I came home. I ended up putting some steri-strips on to hold the edges of the gash together and re-bandaging it. When Tom called to check on him a little later he said Bob had blood running down his forehead, into his eyebrows and looked quite a mess. There was blood on the floor and in the bathroom. Head wounds are notorious for bleeding badly. It had pretty much stopped bleeding by the time I got home and Bob is doing fine - he's just walking around with a large bandage on his head! He may wear a cap to church tomorrow!
Here's a picture of it, once it was cleaned up:

OH MY GOSH!! OUCH BOB! Jim did that and it left a nice scar.I bet he's glad you are a nurse at times like this huh? Thank God he is ok:)

Your poor hubby! I am not the best one to handle blood. One night, when I used to work in an emergency room, an elderly patient ripped out her i.v. and blood was squirting everywhere. I ended up fainting. The nurse who was taking care of the woman, then was taking care of me!
ReplyDeleteOuch- that does look pretty bad. I'm glad he was ok- hope he doesn't have a terrible headache tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteOuch! I'm guessing he might have a headache tomorrow from that one. He may just need a little extra TLC. :o)
ReplyDeletePoor Bob! And poor Mari! Just thankful he's okay... have a great Sunday.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, that doesn't look very pleasant! I hope it heals quickly and that he is doing ok this morning! I'll watch for him in church to see if he's wearing a hat! :)
ReplyDeleteOUCH!!! I bet he was a mess. I know even a little head wound will bleed like there is no tomorrow. That's a pretty nice gash.
ReplyDeleteGlad he's ok
Oh baby, that looks nasty! Good thing he has his own nurse to care for him!
ReplyDeleteMy cat freaked out yesterday and flew over my head with her claws out. I ended up with some nasty scratches above, inside, and down my ear. Talk about blood... I think I'll survive, but it sure hurt!
Tell Bob I am thinking of him and I will say a prayer for him each time I clean my wound :)
Ouch! That's not good. But I didn't see a hat this morning, so that's a good sign! :)
ReplyDeleteMari,
ReplyDeleteThe poor man. That must have hurt. And yes, head wounds do bleed profusely. I bet he was a bit frightened because it was bleeding so much and he couldn't see it.
I remember when Jordan did a baseball slide into the leather couch one day and slid along it and banged the bone just above his eye on the end table. I was afraid to look because I was afraid it was his eye that had been damaged. However, I braved it out and put a cold cloth and ice on it and it stopped bleeding. He was scared to death. I made the decision not to take him for stitches. I would rather not have them if the bleeding can be stopped. He has a scar there that he will always have - a reminder to be careful.
I do hope your husband's head heals nicely and that his headache isn't too bad.
Blessings,
Mary
OWIE!!!
ReplyDeletei used to get made at leo when he hurt himself ... unreasonable i know, but i guess he usually scared me more than he did himself!
hope it scabs over well!
Oh for heaven's sake Bob. Feeling alone and left out, were you? That gash, brother dear, is a cry for help. You could have just called us and we'd have come over to help with your project. Maybe we could have done dishes together too! Seriously though, glad you're ok. Although we do wonder, HOW did Tom judge that you were acting "normally"? That's a wide range there...
ReplyDeleteLove, K&D
I detect a little black humor from K&D. Sure glad it wasn't any worse. Steri-strips do work wonders. Hope it heals fast.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad he's ok!thant looks just terrible, I hope it heals quickly and hope he borrows a hard hat next time to protect his noggin!
ReplyDeleteBless his heart! Ouch! That made me a bit woozy just looking at the photo.
ReplyDeleteLet me guess... when you snapped the photo he said... "So I guess you are going to blog this too?"
LOL!
Take Care,
Jen
Good Golly Miss Molly! That looks like it needs medical attention to me. I would be worried about infection, etc. Ouch! Glad he's okay.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Kat
Oh my word - that looks terrible. I hope he's doing okay!
ReplyDeleteOUCH!!!! I'm so glad he is okay!! You nurses. I could hardly even look at this post without wanting to pass out. Thanks for doing what you do for a living because I could NEVER do it!!!
ReplyDeleteTHAT LOOKS LIKE IT NEEDS STITCHES!
ReplyDeleteI hope it is healing up well by now.
I would've voted for stitches on that one. It looks deep. I hope his head didn't hurt too bad.
ReplyDeletei can't thank you enough for posting this beautiful picture of the evidence. this one is bigger than my son's. he was fooling around, of course, he jumped in a door frame, and smacked his head and broke his head open about 1" long. need i say he is 6'2" and didn't have far to jump to accomplish such a brilliant task. the hospital does not stitch, so they said, they staple! he said it was the most painful thing he every has had done and he has many stitching stories to tell. steri-trips are great!!!! hope bob is getting better. ~janel
ReplyDeletePoor man! How much did you have to pay him - to get a photo like that??? Just kidding!
ReplyDeleteLot of love to you all!
