Happy Mother's Day!

Being a Mother

Somebody said it takes about 6 weeks to get back to normal after you've had a baby
That somebody doesn't know that once you're a mother, "normal" is history.

.

Somebody said being a mother is boring...

That somebody never rode in a care driven by a teenager with a drivers permit.

.

Somebody said if you're a "good" mother your child will "turn out good".

That somebody thinks a child comes with directions and a guarantee.

.
Somebody said "good" mothers never raise their voices.
That somebody never came out the back door just in time to see their child hit a golf ball through the neighbors window.
.
Somebody said you don't need an education to be a mother.
That somebody never helped a fourth grader with their math.
.
Somebody said a mother can find all the answers to her child rearing questions in books.
That somebody never had a child stuff beans up her nose or in her ears.
.
Somebody said you can't love the fifth child as much as you did the first.
That somebody doesn't have five children.
.
Somebody said the hardest part of being a mom is labor and delivery.
That somebody never had to watch their "baby" get on the bus for the first day of kindergarten,
or on a plane headed for Military Boot Camp.
.
Somebody said a mother can stop worrying after her child gets married.
That somebody doesn't know that marriage adds a new son or daughter to a mothers heartstrings.
.
Somebody said a mothers job is done when her last child leaves home.
That somebody never had grandchildren.
.
Somebody said your mother already knows you love her so you don't have to say it.
That somebody isn't a mother.
.
Happy Mothers Day to all the Moms out there. I hope you have a blessed day.

  4. I completely and wholeheartedly agree with the "not boring" part of driving with a teen with a driver's permit! My adrenaline is still a little high right now and my hands are still a little shaky from our wonderful learning experience this afternoon with Logan! We're all ok and we didn't get in an accident but that's the closest I've been for a while! Whew!

  7. Marie,

All of these things are true. Mothers never stop worrying about their children and when they become grandmothers, there are new children to worry about. A mother's job is never done until she steps through the pearly gates and meets our Lord.

Happy Mother's Day to you. May you be blessed abundantly.

    Blessings,
    Mary

  10. There's lots of wisdom in your words. Mothering never ends - no matter the age of the child or the mother. Having lost my mother this past November at age 85, I still find myself waiting for her phone call. She's now having the best Mother's Day ever!
    Happy Mother's Day Mari!

  16. great post!

yep, a fifth child can be loved just as much as the others -- four sons, one daughter and the heart has been multiplied, not divided!

so i know you relate to the part about putting that baby boy (i mean, man) on a plane to that first assignment....

    and God is there!
