Slow Cooking Thursday

It's time for another slow cooker recipe! Since we will celebrate Easter this weekend, I thought I would share a recipe that is often made for holiday dinners. It's a twist on the classic green bean casserole, done in a crock pot. Green Bean Casserole
2 - 14.5 oz cans green beans, drained
1 can cream of mushroom soup
3/4 cup milk
1 cup cheddar cheese
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1 - 6 ounce can french fried onions
Stir together milk, soup and black pepper. Stir in beans, cheese and 1/2 can of onions. Cook in slow cooker for for about 6 hours on low. Sprinkle reserved onion rings on top about 20 minutes before serving.
For more slow cooker recipes, head over to Sandra's blog. You can find her at Diary of a SAHM.

Never tried that in a slow cooker, I will have to tell my daughter she loves to make it.

Mari, Thank you for posting that variation of the Green Bean Casserole. I was trying to figure out how I would do it this Sunday before going to Steve's sisters (Wilma by the way) and you just gave me the way! Thank you! Thank you! Do you use a smaller crockpot for this?

I wonder if Terri knows this because I think she makes this casserole quite a bit.

my mom adores green bean casserole. Does anyone know what to use instead of the cream-of-soup?

I'm wondering outloud if you can recreate this without a can..

This is one of my husbands favorites. Never tried it in the crockpot before, hmmm..
When we first got married, he wrote down the recipe and I got everything together and made it for him (he was at work) I had a hard time reading his handwritting and instead of 1/8 tsp. pepper I put in 1 tsp. It was horrible. He ate it out of kindness, but I don't think he enjoyed one bite! I didn't even try.
