We are under another winter storm warning. I must say that I am really getting quite tired of this. I don't remember a winter like this for a long time. It seems we dig out, only to be dumped on again. This is what I just found on our local news station website:
According to the National Weather Service:
...GRAND RAPIDS BREAKS THE RECORD FOR NUMBER OF DAYS WITH 3 INCH SNOWFALLS FROM MIDNIGHT TO MIDNIGHT FOR FEBRUARY.

And, here's the prediction for tonight and tomorrow:
Monday night, lake-effect snow will continue with 1-3" inland and 3-5" along the lakeshore. Temperatures will slip into the mid to upper teens. Blowing and drifting snow will continue. Wind chills will be around 0-10°.
Tuesday, lake-effect snow will accumulate an additional 1-2" inland and 2-3" along the lakeshore. Temperatures will hold steady or slip further into the mid teens. Wind chills will be around 0-5°.
Tuesday night, lake-effect snow showers will continue with another 1-3" accumulation. Temperatures will fall into the single numbers. Wind chills will be in the single numbers.
By Wednesday, my area is predicted to have 9 to 12 more inches of snow!

Here's a few pictures to show you what it looks like. (I didn't take these)
These are people walking on the frozen waves of Lake Michigan
This is the lighthouse in Holland, covered with ice.
It is pretty, but I'm so ready for it to be done! I am not looking forward to driving to work again tomorrow, through drifts and poor visibility.
Here's a little reminder of Spring - it is coming!

I am so sick of this stuff too, but your right spring will come sometime, I just hope it will be early this year...
ReplyDeleteI'm sick of it too! But that lighthouse at Holland looks so cool...I think I might have to go out there! And I love those flowers...were those in your yard?
ReplyDeleteOh those flowers YES!! There is HOPE!! Thanks Mari:)
ReplyDeleteSprings needs to HURRY! UP! PLEASE!
ReplyDeleteDid you take the photo of those purple flowers ??? AMAZING !! I love to see the color poking up out of the snow !!
ReplyDeleteMari,
ReplyDeleteI am really tired of winter as well. This is an old fashioned winter. More like the ones when I was a kid. However, the snow does help to fertilize the Earth, so in one way it's good.
Love the crocus. I can hardly wait for mine to come up. Snowdrops will be first.
Thanks for your prayers for Michelle. They're very appreciated.
Blessings,
Mary
Oh My! It's beautiful, but I sure wouldn't want to have to deal with it. I'm ready for Spring too.
ReplyDeleteStay warm.
Hugs!
Kat
Oh I loved that little reminder!!!! Last friday the kids and I were in Grand Haven and saw those waves. Yep I can offically say I'm done! Put a fork in me! I am no longer a happy snow camper!
ReplyDeleteAnd here I was complaining the morning. We had a semi warm weekend- only to go out this morning to start my van and have the wind rip right through me- 2 below 0.
ReplyDeleteThe lighthouse is a cool picture but I love the bright purple flower peaking out of the snow.
I am so with you, enough is enough! I've gotten so bad, I don't want to leave the house because it's too cold! Hang on, think Spring...it's got to be coming soon-not today, but soon!
ReplyDeleteI hear you!! It feels like it will never end...BUT, spring and summer around here sure make it worth it!!
ReplyDeleteI do agree. Where were all these snow days when I was in school! Now I don't get any and I have to go out in it no matter what it looks like. And I am so, so, sick of scraping my car off every morning!
ReplyDeleteI saw on the news last night that in the past 40 days we have only had 2 without snowfall! And I think it was raining those days...
But soon - soon we will see those little crocuses peeking out their heads, shortly before they get nibbled off my our town bunnies.
I know! I am ready for BBQ, bonfires, pool, vacations, spring, summer and fall, those are my favorite times of the year because that is when I do the most stuff.
ReplyDeleteWOW! It was 66 degrees here yesterday afternoon then it flurried snow last night - sometimes I wonder why we all arent in the hospital with pneumonia! I pray spring comes soon for you guys!
ReplyDeleteI like the extreme weather.. But, I'm running out of room to put all the snow.
ReplyDelete-Off to shovel again.

I think I need to take a drive to go look at the lake - it really is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSorry, but I do love this extreme weather and it's kind of fun to make fun of Al Gore!
Holy Smokes Mari...I don't think I have ever seen anything like that it my life. Growing up in Northern Kentucky we had our fair share of snow and snow storms, but nothing like what you guys get. Now, after living in Ft. Lauderdale for the last 21 year (has it really been that long???) I get chilled in the low 60's. I guess it really is all about what you are used to, huh?
ReplyDeletePraying for you guys to stay warm, safe, and protected!!!
xoxo,
Melissa
Love the last picture- there is hope!
ReplyDeleteHopefully spring comes soon for you guys, I can't get over those frozen waves on the lake. Wow!
ReplyDeleteOh, Marie, wish I could send some of our nice weather to you! I've gotten to open the windows the past few days during the daytime to bring the fresh air in. Now we are expecting rain today and tomorrow, and the temps will be dropping with the rain, but it is still pretty nice.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
BBBrbbrbrrbrrrrr- yikes! that's cold!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are awesome...the frozen waves are unbelievable!
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a wonderful day despite the weather!
You are one of those amazing 'snow' girls that I am talking about Mari!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see the lake, the trees, and your countryside. I bet it is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteStay warm and stay safe as you have to travel in this stuff!
I hear you girlfriend! I hear you!
ReplyDeleteNot that I'm a big fan of winter---but hang in there Mari. You have a way of always seeing the bright side of things----and look at that last picture of the tulips peeking through the snow. :) What a nice reminder from God to cling to 'hope'.
ReplyDeleteThat first photo was unbelievable! Wow!
I saw this post a few days ago, and told my husband about these crazy pictures. I just showed them to him, and he told me that Lake Michigan freezes a little bit every year. (Probably not like this though??)
ReplyDeleteThat's just amazing to me.
Love the pictures. There is beauty in this crazy winter!! I'm still really looking forward to spring, though. It has been a COLD winter.
