I thought I would share what I've done for my random acts of kindness this week. First I bought a potted tulip plant and brought it into church when the secretary wasn't there. I put it on her desk with a note saying thanks for all you do and wishes that this would brighten her day. I left it unsigned so she can wonder who brought it! (Bloggers from church are to keep quiet!)
I also bought a gift certificate from our local grocery store. I am sending it to a family I know who don't have much extra money. I enclosed it in a note that said how much they were apreciated and again didn't sign it. I like the thought of people wondering who was thinking of them! I've been trying to be aware of ways to help people, often in simple ways like holding the door or helping carry things. I have found that there a lots of little things to help with if you are just paying attention.
What beautiful and thoughtful things, you have such a caring heart and I am always blown away by you - seriously! I was only thinking about the work you do the other day and what a gift from the Lord that is. Oh I was thinking of you and the snow there when I posted these sunny pictures, wanted to let you know - spring and summer are ahead for you!!
ReplyDeleteKaren - those are sweet thoughts, but I don't want you to think I am so great. It would be more wonderful if I would think of things like this to do and follow up on them when it wasn't Random Acts of Kindness week and I wasn't consciously thinking about what I could do!
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas Mari! I'm sure they wonder who their angel is...we know...YOU!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Kat
I saw those beauties, and I gotta tell you she was touched! She asked me if I did it and I said "ah, No!" wish I had!!! Your secret is safe with me! One a great gesture!
ReplyDeleteI seen them and had to see if they were real. They look so perfect. That was very thoughtful of you. Mark brought me home some tulips on Monday from work and I just love them. It gives me hope in all this coldness that spring is around the corner.
ReplyDeleteSmiles!
What nice things to do! I'm sure both acts were greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteThat was a great idea. I'm sure they all loved it.
ReplyDeleteShe asked me if I had brought them in for her too but I said pretty much the same as Kim - "Mmmm...no".
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas to show kindness! I don't know if I'll write anything of mine down or not because I really try to make this part of my everyday life. I'm definately no saint so don't go there but I do try to be aware of it every day and listen to God's leading. I love to do stuff like this anonomously. It gives me so much joy to do these things and also I know that God knows what I've done and I'll get my reward one day from Him! :)
I love that you didn't sign your name. That just shows what a selfless heart you have. I have to say, I have tears in my eyes right now because God has sure blessed me with wonderful family!
ReplyDeleteVery nice, you are. I have an idea for a random kindness, but I am not sure I can get it done.
ReplyDeleteA co-workers wife has been working her self ragged taking care of her family and her mother (dying of cancer) I am going to try to take my girls over for a play day and let her husband take her out to eat. I hope I can get it to work out.
You inspired me with the thought earlier this week.
That is so sweet Mari and I'm sure they really appreciate it :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so creative! I LOVE this post! I am sure that they were blessed so much.
ReplyDeleteOne time my husband and I were in a restaurant together. After we ate, we asked the waitress for our check. She said,"It has already been taken care of." We said, "What?" We looked around the restaurant and there was our neighbor smiling like a cat eating paste. We all laughed and we were so blessed!
Mari,
ReplyDeleteJust wonderful...all your ideas!
You truly have a heart of Jesus my friend.
I have finally made a coffee date with my new neighbor next door..I had put this off for some time. They are new to my block. When I saw her weeding yesterday I peeked out and set the date. Please keep me in your prayers though, in only moments while talking with her she shared that her and her husband after 16yrs may be getting a divorce. I am just praying that the Lord gives me the words she needs to hear. I don't think she is a Christian.
Geesh Mari...this random kindness thing may now give me the opportunity to share my faith with her.
Keep me in your prayers,
Joanne
that is sooo sweet! what a joy and blessing you are bringing to those people - big hug to you!
ReplyDeleteYour awesome Mari, I know you listen to the Lord as He gives you these great ideas!! How Divine:)
ReplyDeleteI think this is simply wonderful! I LOVE this idea...both of them! What a great heart you have...it's a reflection of God's love in you! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are really a beautuful person & I get to work with you so know it true...
ReplyDeleteHow cool....
ReplyDeleteI am sure they were blessed. Thank you for sharing.
One time we were eating dinner at Applebee's Restuarant and someone paid our bill in full. I remember feeling tremendously blessed by God.
God is good!
Mari---
ReplyDeleteI have seen your smiling face and sweet comments on several of the blogs I read daily. I thought I would stop by for a visit. This post was really fun. Thanks for the ideas of how to brighten someone else's day...of course doing random acts of kindness always brightens the day of the giver as well.
