This week we have had some unseasonably warm weather here in Michigan. The temperatures were in the 50's and of course all the snow melted. Last night when I left work, it looked as if there was a little snow blowing in my headlights but it was 42 degrees. I thought I was imagining things. About an hour and 1/2 later it was thundering and lightning, but when I looked outside what did I see? Snow on the ground! This morning all was white. One school in the area was delayed. Interestingly enough, it happens to be this person's school who always says her kids never get snow days or delays! So I thought I would post a few pictures of what is going on in Michigan for some of my blogging friends who don't get to experience this weather. For Andy in Virginia, my niece in Spain, and friends in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Florida, Georgia, California (#1, #2), Arizona, North Carolina, and those three crazy bloggers in South Carolina ( #1, #2, #3), here is what winter in Michigan looks like! (I hope I didn't miss any of you. I have a few blogging friends that I don't know where they live!) Here is our street.
The Pine trees look so pretty with the snow hanging on them.
A little corner in our backyard near Bob's wood shop.

I just finished shoveling the walk and the driveway. It has been snowing quite hard at times, but is warm enough that the snow on the branches is melting. I am now a mess, from melting plops of snow dropping on my head. I'm off to fix up my hair which looks about like it did when I got out of the shower this morning!
Hey, hey, hey!!!! That person is correct that school hardly ever gets cancelled. I'm thinking that our school probably got a lot of flack over the last time when they didn't cancel and everyone did - they decided they better delay it this time! Chelsea said it figures it would snow - she didn't want a cancellation today. They start exams on Monday but the delay was nice. I needed extra sleep. I was up till 12:30 finishing my book last night.
ReplyDeleteI have a post ready to go here soon... you have to come see it when it's ready. The picture could be your backyard. :)
ReplyDeleteMari, My family and I decided to go out for pizza last night during that crazy weather.I thought we should turn back and go home but I was told to please stop worrying. We made it to Fricano's just fine and enjoyed our pizza but the ride did get a little tense at times.I'm not much for risking my life for food but the driver was.See-ya soon,Patty
ReplyDeleteIt's always interesting living in Michigan! Wasn't it beautiful this morning with every branch covered in white!
ReplyDeleteCRAZY! I am wearing short sleeves and because it's you am not tooo shamed to say I think I have some sweat marks! hahahaha- that's a BIG difference!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! Frameworthy, even. I must live my winter vicariously through you. I am afraid I will never see that in person, without a plane ride!
ReplyDeleteI love a snow day!! I also love the pine trees covered in snow. When I was growing up, we got a lot more snow in IL than they do now. My parents had a row of pine trees that lined one side of our yard. The branches would get so heavy with snow that they would bend to the ground. I used to go under there and pretend that it was my own private igloo!!
ReplyDeleteSnow, beautiful snow ! How I miss it ... sometimes. :) Love the last photo ! Those little lanterns are great !
ReplyDeleteYou know where I live, but the picture were still beautiful! I really enjoyed the warm days, but the snow was so beautiful coming down. Alicia did a 360 last night coming home from downtown. She prayed for angels to surround her and ended up just missing a guardrail and able to get back on the highway. God was faithful!
ReplyDeleteYour snow pictures are so beautiful. I love it when soft snow falls on pine trees. There is nothing quite so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMari, your pictures are wonderful. As for me, I want SUMMER!!! I am ready to move South. Yes I know it is pretty, and this is MICHIGAN:)I am trying to make the best of it:)
ReplyDeleteHey! Surfed over here from Sandra's blog, and I was glad I did!!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful snowy pictures. We've had a lot of ICE here this winter (Oklahoma City!) but not any really pretty snow, just a bunch of nasty junk!
Have a good one, I'll be watching!
I think you MIGHT have a little less than we do here - but isn't there something so refreshing about snow?
ReplyDeleteSweet blessings!
Renee
I MISS the snow....oh how I miss it :(
ReplyDeleteWe're all wearing shorts and tshirts here in Arizona, crazy weather, I don't think I'll ever get used to this LOL
Mari,
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful pictures. Love the beautiful lantern in the snow. That looks so amazing, though the snow plopping on your head wasn't something I coveted!
Did I ever tell you that I lived in Michigan when I was a very little girl? I lived in St. Clare Shores. My parents bought their first house there. I still remember my dad taking me ice skating on the lake. His foot caught on a small hole in the ice and since I was in his arms (3yrs old) I went flying! The pictures are sweet of me with a fat lip in my dads arms.
I also remember fish flies. Do you have those?
Love, "California #1" Joanne :O)
p.s. I am hoping to have my blog fixed by tomorrow at lunch... California time.
Our weather has been crazy too. I love the lanterns on your walk. Where did you get them?
ReplyDeleteThe snow is beautiful but I am such a Southerner...I need hot weather!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the gorgeous pictures!
Beautiful pictures. That snow is probably heading toward PA right now! I was curious to know how far you Michigan people are from Fraser, Michigan. I have a very dear niece who lives there.
ReplyDeleteAlso your slow cooker spaghetti recipe sounded great. Imagine the aroma in the house with that cooking all day!
Wow! Those are some pretty pictures. I wish we could get some snow right about now.
ReplyDeleteMari,
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by my blog and commenting. I'm glad you enjoyed the icy tree photos. It was beautiful and the road was clear, which was a blessing.
We don't have any snow here but it is turning cold and the sky is laden heavily with cloud. I expect some by morning. I just hope it isn't too much. I am tired from vacation and don't feel up to shoveling just yet.
I'm glad to be home and catching up with my blogging friends.
Blessings,
Mary
Mari,
ReplyDeleteAs one of your friends in FLORIDA, I truly do appreciate these beautiful pictures!
It is so strange that it can be 80 degrees and bright and sunny, and on the same day it can be snowing buckets up in Michigan.
Wow...God is so complicated and amazing...He never ceases to AMAZE me!
PS - I hear that we might be getting another "cold" front here in South Florida in the next couple of days...whippee!
