Baby, It's Cold Outside!

Here's a few pictures of our back front and side yard here in West Michigan. We are having some cold weather. When I took these pictures around 4:30 on Saturday our thermometer said it was 6 degrees! Because we live near Lake Michigan we often fall victim to lake effect snow. This happen when cold air moves over the warmer lake, causing clouds to build over the lake and snow falls when the clouds reach the land. What this means to us is - it is cold here and it's been snowing all day! This is predicted to continue for the next few days. In this weather I certainly am thankful for things like a home and a furnace!

  3. "Baby, It's Cold Ourside!" I remember that song and only 6 degrees? That is cold! It looks like you guys in western Michigan are getting pounded!

I wonder if you will have church tomorrow morning. We were just reading blogs from church planters in Atlanta and two of their churches are being canceled because of weather. (Down there, they are probably just getting a dusting. Tsk! Tsk!)

  4. Oh, I forgot to comment on your pictures. They are so pretty! It looks like you live near a wooded area. You probably see lots of animals from time to time. Thanks for posting the pictures.

  6. Amen to the furnace! We've already been down the broken furnace road and today I am SO thankful for heat.

The snow is looking beautiful as it hangs on the pines, but it is almost too cold to even go outside. We headed out yesterday and cut our plans short because we just didn't want to get out of the car.

Your sister is nuts...loving winter. She sure lives in the right state. I must be getting old because Texas and Florida are sounding better every year.

  7. I hear ya! It gets cold here in Japan too----but we don't have central heat! No one in Japan does---kinda like the stove and dryers.

Did enjoy the snow picture-----hope you don't have to work and can enjoy a few days in a warm house with no place to go. :)

  9. Lovely to look at - freezing to the bone! We only got a dusting here on the East side of Mi., but it's only January - anything can still happen! I'm dreading the next heating bill - but the flip side is I am able to stay warm and for that I give thanks!

  10. Holy Canoli Mari...that IS COLD!!!! Hope from Monkey Giggles is up in Michigan too and she emailed me last night to tell me it was 1 degree outside. CRAZY!!!

I think God knew I wouldn't be cut out for that kind of weather when HE made my parents move to FL while I was in High School. Didn't like them much back then for that, but so glad for it now.

Stay Warm...if it is any consolation it is chilly and raining here in South Florida (it is 60 right now and people are getting weird about it...you remember my other posts about Cold weather in South Florida). Ha!

Keep layering the clothes, it works for us.

PS - Keep posting pics, they are great!!!
