Today I went out and got a few pumpkins and mums to make my entry look a little more like Fall. I tend to procrastinate with this, because it seems the pumpkins start going bad too quickly. Since it has been so warm this year I have been even slower than usual. Here are the pumpkins and mums I got for the front door.
I also got gourds and mini pumpkins to fill this basket for my table. This is a Longaberger basket that was my Mom's. Earlier this week I posted about going to the apple orchard. When my Mom was living, she came on that annual outing and she always took this basket along. We would stop at a local floral place and they would fill and decorate it while we visited the orchard. After she passed away I got the basket and I always put it out in the Fall and at Christmas. It is nice to see it and remember her.
How beautiful! Mari, pop on over - I have given you an award.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally doing the Mums thing this weekend, myself. Love it!! I have gourds in the middle of my table right now, too. :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful. I am glad you have he basket and memories of your mom. Moms are special, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteThe pumpkins that my kids carved in an earlier post... I have to go throw them across the road. Instead of being a nice decoration at the front door they are a disgusting rotting decoration at the front door. Bummer.
ReplyDeleteThe mums, pumpkins, and gourds all look so nice! I don't do that really anymore. I did for a while but the gourds just attracted fruit flys. :(
ReplyDeleteWhat a great basket...and the story is so special! I LOVE your entry to your house...so welcoming and fall!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out really nice- I love the color of the mums. You really should have Laura do the basket sometime-I'd love to see what she would do for decorating it too!
ReplyDeleteMy pumpkins are already rotten... I jumped the gun, Mari! Next time I'll follow your lead.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful decorations, and beautiful memories.
Hugs - M

ReplyDeleteI seriously need to decorate for fall. I always get mums but this just hasnt been a priority.
The decorations look great!! I love to decorate for Fall. I also love the story about your Mom. My mother has lots of Longaberger baskets that will one day belong to me and my sister. They will hold special memories for me because she loves them so much. What a great story!!
