Here we are in October! My regular readers know that I need to be dragged into the Autumn season, but now that it's truly here, I'm decorating and embracing the beauty of it all. (While praying that winter stays far away!)
So, October is here, and here's how the first day of the month went for me.
It was a cool and misty morning. I started the day with my usual walk. Here I'm walking on my road.
A little further down the road. A pretty view, but the sky is dark.
As I got further down the road, it started to rain. Shortly after it started, a truck came down the road - it was Bob, coming to rescue me!
He took me home and I finished my morning walk in the basement.
After my walk, I had breakfast and read this daily devotional which I really enjoy.
Then it was time to get some things done in the kitchen. I cooked some eggs in my Dash egg cooker (it's a wonderful little thing to make my daily boiled eggs in). I browned some ground beef and packaged it for the freezer. I also made some cream cheese bars in preparation for some friends coming for supper that night.
After eating lunch, I walked around the yard and gathered up some of the last tomatoes from the garden.
As it wasn't raining at the moment, I took a short walk down the road. You can see a few signs of Fall. There are just a few trees showing color. The second photo is our driveway, where acorns are falling like crazy!
When I got back, I worked on decorating the porch with some Autumn decor.
Then I did a little vacuuming so the house was ready for friends coming over.
We've been working on our bedroom and curtains I ordered arrived. Bob hung the rods and I hung the curtains. (I'll show you what we did in there later)
In the meantime, it was raining again. This is the view out our front window. We ended up getting 1 1/4 inch of rain on this day.
Excuse the poor photo! I forgot to take a picture until our meal was done... As I mentioned, we had friends over. I made burritos for supper.
We had cream cheese bars for dessert. These bars are so easy to make (only 4 ingredients!) and are always a hit. If you want to try them, here's the recipe.
Our friends left around 8:30 and we watched an episode of Midlife Stockman on youtube. He's a guy who works around Detroit, cleaning up houses and yards for people who've had hard times. And that was how the day ended. Blessed to have another good day!
Dear Mari, I am so happy 😊 that you are embracing October ❤️ 💖
ReplyDeleteYour photos are beautiful, and you are getting so much done. I like that you browned some meat and packed it in the freezer. Great idea, I think I will do the same with not just beef, but with ground chicken, pork and lamb even.
You live in such a gorgeous area! And I have never seen such a beautiful vacuum!
ReplyDeleteI love how you are true to keep walking, even if you have to finish your walk inside . . . Bravo! That's dedication.
ReplyDeleteI have that same little egg cooker and I absolutely love it. I bought it after twice leaving eggs on the stove and forgetting about them and having my pot boiled dry.
Happy October 🍁☺️🍁
Looks like a great day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful way to welcome October, Mari! I love how your day flowed between the misty outdoors and the cozy kitchen. The cream cheese bars sound divine, and I admire how you balance productivity with enjoying the little seasonal touches. 🍁✨
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a really great day to start October. I smiled when you said your husband came to rescue you. That is so sweet.
ReplyDeleteGlad Bob rescued you. We had 2 days of rain here too the other day. Love your gourds. I bought a bumpy green one and now it is turning orange. Never thought it would do that. Janice
ReplyDeleteYour home is located in such an idyllic place, Mari. Thanks for sharing your day with us here, including your rainy walk. I love your decorations, too.
ReplyDeleteA lovely start to the month of October for you! I love how you get much accomplished in a day and yet work in the fun things in life too...like having friends over. :) xx
ReplyDeleteWonderful way to spend a day! I am sure your guests really enjoyed the meal. Congratulations for your dedication to get your steps. And what a nice husband you have!
ReplyDeleteUgh I love the rain part. I'm glad you got outside but I would have been moled out in the house all day, hahahaa! Such fun having folks over for a comforting meal! We are just now having some slightly cooler temps and the tiniest bit of leaf color here and there. The fall season seems to evaporate so quickly and I have to remind myself to savor it! Precious of our Bob to fetch you from the rainy road. Good man. xoxo 🏴☠️
ReplyDeleteI do like those cool and misty mornings at this time of year! It looks like a lovely walk, apart from the rain! What a productive morning and how wonderful to see all those signs of fall!
ReplyDeleteThose cream cheese bars look delicious!
I am subscribed to Midlife Stockman, too. You have such a lovely place to walk, and a lovely yard to explore. I am going to check out the recipe and am pretty sure it's another Mari Recipe to keep and share!! Have a happy week ahead, Mari!! Hi to Bob! xo
ReplyDeleteUmmm, yumm, your cream cheese bars are right up my alley ...
ReplyDeleteEasy and tasty.
You have such a sweet hubby coming to your rescue. I love that ...
Its always fun to have friends over for a meal. I like the kind that its more about the friends than a fancy dinner. We used to do that a lot. Its very soul satisfying.
Love your decorations too.
Sue
Acorns coming down like crazy on the driveway sounds noisy, but a good sign for the oaks. Nice that you still found a few last tomatoes in October. I'm curious to see the bedroom once the curtains are up.

Sounds like. a nice and busy day. You have a beautiful area to go walking in. Ken used to try to rescue me but I've turned him town so many times he doesn't bother anymore. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy October wishes.
ReplyDeleteIt looks and sounds a good day ... even with the rain.
I think your porch looks great with its Autumn decor.
Have a good week.
All the best Jan
LOVE this time of year! And that Bob came to save you and that you finished your walk inside. That is very, very good. Happy Autumn!
ReplyDeleteWow! You got a lot of rain! We are getting some good rain, but I don't know how much yet. It's supposed to rain all week. I love your colorful front porch basket, and I also love all the beautiful places you walked. You really live in the country, it appears. Glad the guy in the truck who picked you up was a friendly fellow! LOL. That was sweet of him to come to your rescue! Those cream cheese bars look good, as did your burritos. Sounds like a great meal! Enjoy your fall while it lasts! Embrace the beauty, and share it with us! Have a wonderful rest of your week.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a wonderful start to the month. Glad you were rescued from the rain!
ReplyDeleteAww, I love that he came to rescue you! I would not have finished my walk in the basement, good for you! It's lovely scenery out your way!
ReplyDeleteI really do enjoy your Mondays and all the things you do to get ready for the month. It seems like such a wonderful and lovely life you have there. Love your walks. And how sweet your hubby came to get you!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like your October is off to a wonderful start! Gorgeous scenery and delicious treats make for a great start to fall. I also love that our hubby didn't waste any time coming to your rescue...good man! Wishing you more blessings throughout the rest of the month!
ReplyDeleteYes I completely understand your having to be dragged into Fall. I feel the same way because we know what comes next! I've heard we are going to have a mild winter though so that's something! Looks like a great first day of October!
ReplyDeleteLove how you spend your peaceful beautiful days. Yay for Bob to the rescue! Lol What would we do without those super hubby's? I think Matt used to watch someone on social media that would mow and fix up yards for folks whose places were really overrun - he loved it. I need to tell him about your youtube show. Those bars are always a winner! 😋
ReplyDeleteYour day was full! Did watching Midlife Stockman tire you or invigorate you!😃
ReplyDeleteYour day was a very full, as usual, you always accomplish so much!!
