Mothers Day!

It was Mothers Day in the U.S. today. My girls and their families came over for supper on Saturday so we could celebrate.

They told me they were coming, and not to worry about anything - they would have it all.  And they did!  We had such a lovely meal!

Look at this - Pasta Alfredo, Pasta with tomato sauce, chicken, meatballs, garlic knots, salad and drinks.  It was delicious!

The kids enjoyed it too.

After supper, we spent some time outside; the kids had fun playing, the adults wandered and checked out the Spring garden.

We took some Mothers Day pictures.  Me with my grandkids, and me with my daughters.

Then we took some of the girls; Heather with Connor and Cassie, and Laura with Alaina and Ruby.

This is the cutest little crocheted cactus, that Heather gave me because I can't keep plants alive in the house.  :)   The card is a picture Cassie drew of her family and the little blue things are flowers. I also got a gift card to use to by a planter for the porch.

And then more food!  This dessert was scrumptious.

On Sunday, we had a nice service at church, and after lunch Bob and I went for a hike at a local park.

This park used to have a resort on the property where people would come by train from Chicago to enjoy in the early 1900's. This house was the owners home and it's been restored. Today, a few volunteers had it open so people could come in and see it.

It was a beautiful place.

After touring the house, we hiked in the woods.

Woods, streams, a pond - it was a lovely walk.

We came upon this tree that had fallen and the roots were exposed.

We ended at this little river before walking back to our car.

We had a call from our son Andy in KY in the evening.  It was a very nice Mother's Day and I'm so thankful for each of my kids and grandkids.

  2. What a charming Mother's Day celebration you all had. How wonderful of your girls to plan and execute that heavenly meal! I love it when adult children do right by their mother on Mother's Day! My girls had a sweet little party planned for me too. We had a great time. The park and house are beautiful and I know you are enjoying the mild spring weather! We had a heat wave about three weeks or so ago but here lately the weather has been gorgeous and so ideal for walking and just being outside. I love that bathroom in that house! That is really my vibe except I'd need a bigger mirror on the wall, hahaha 🏴‍☠️
