Cooking Thursday

I've heard from several people that steak in the air fryer is really good.  If we have steak, Bob usually grills it, but who wants to stand over a grill in snowy or rainy weather?  So, I decided to give it a try. This was such an easy way to cook a steak, and they came out tender and juicy. If you have an air fryer and don't feel like standing over a grill, this is a good alternative.

Air Fryer Ribeye Steak with Herb Butter

2 - 1 inch thick ribeye steaks
1 tablespoon olive oil
coarse salt
steak seasoning

Garlic Herb Steak Butter

4 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon fresh, shopped parsley
1 teaspoon fresh, chopped oregano

Stir herbs and garlic into butter. Place on plastic wrap and form into a roll.  Place in refrigerator.

Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees.
Lightly coat each steak with olive oil on both sides, then season with salt and steak seasoning.
Place in air fryer basket and cook for 6-8 minutes on each side, depending on how done you want it.
Allow steaks to rest for 5-10 minutes before eating.
Right before serving, place a slice of herbed butter on the steak.

*leftover herbed butter can be frozen.  It can also be used on scrambled eggs, potatoes or vegetables.

  2. The herb butter sounds yummy. I don’t have an air fryer. We grill year round but we have a covered patio. Now I’m craving steak… 🥩

  6. I don't have an air fryer, but I keep hearing good things about them, so maybe we need to get one. That steak sure looks yummy. Rib eyes are our favorite, and I watch for them to go on sale so we can have them. They haven't been on sale lately, however. I never thought of putting butter on a steak before either. I may have to try that next time. Thank you for the tips today!

  12. Looks so good, but unfortunately, no steak around here! Sam cannot eat beef due to his liver situation, so I don't eat it either. My kids would love this! seems simple.

  13. On the rare occasion that I have a steak, I usually drag out my Foreman grill. I have a small air-fryer that would hold one steak so will sure give this a try next time!! Thanks!

  18. Oh ho that looks good! I've not been brave enough to try them in the air fryer, in winter I use the iron frying pan for that nice sear...we don't have steak too often, but shh, the girls are heading to Norway, Jon's leaving Saturday to get married in Miami (!), so I bought a few nice NY strips for Paul and I...:). Maybe I'll try the air fryer!

  21. I don’t have an air fryer either, but compound butters on steaks are very good. My favorite is marjoram and lime zest which is excellent on steak but also on colors on the cob too
