Can you believe we're a week into December already? So, I better get with it and share how I spent the first day of the month.
December 1 fell on a Sunday, which is a quieter day for us and I don't have lots of pics, but here's how it went.
We have Sunday School before church so we started with that. Then it was our turn to be greeters. It's always fun to say hi to people as they come in.
We are studying Revelations right now and had an interesting message on that. We ended up talking to several people after church and didn't leave until about 12:20.
One of my friends from church brought me this porch pot, and it looks nice sitting with some snow around it.
We ate lunch and had a quiet afternoon. I did some work on photo books I'm trying to finish for my granddaughters.
Here's the view out back as we were getting supper ready. As you can see, it stayed gray all day!
Inside, it was looking cozier, as I had gotten the Christmas Decorations up earlier in the week.
We had Sloppy Joes for supper, and then watched Endeavor - a British Detective show we've been enjoying.
That was about it, a quiet day, a good day!
Hi Mari! We had a very gray and cloudy day here today - much like you had on December 1! December 1st looks like it was a good Sabbath and a very cozy day for you at home! That soup looks delicious! I love these "Day in the Life" posts. It's always fun to get a glimpse into your daily life. I hope that everything is going well and that you have a good week!
ReplyDeleteYour soup looks so yummy! Especially good on a gray day!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a perfect day to me! The soup looks especially wonderful! So great after coming in from the cold. Your new plant is so pretty! Very Christmas-y! 🌲
ReplyDeleteI love the tree! I may go shopping for one myself, as we don't have much room. Looks like it was ready to snow when you left for church! The soup looks so good and comforting.
ReplyDeleteThe snow looks so pretty. We were at 80 yesterday! That soup looks so good. I need to get a crockpot. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteA perfect day even though it was cloudy. We dont have any snow here on the ground. Your porch pot is just a wonderful one. We have a faux one at work. It seems they are in style now. Revelations is a good part of the bible. One of my favorites. Janice
ReplyDeleteWow does that soup look good, smiles. Revelations is my favorite. Wishing you a beautiful day.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos of your gray day! We are probably having one here today, I see the forecast for cloudy all day, but our temps are in the 50's-60's-70's. No snow for us in Florida! Your church looks ready for Christmas! And I love the "porch pot" your friend gave you! Your chicken and rice soup looks really good, and now I want some! Your decorations are so pretty. I hope you have a beautiful week as you prepare for the Advent of our Savior's Birth!! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had your backyard view, minus the snow. ha ha and your trees on the mantle and the skinny tree are just perfect. I have the perfect spot for that tree, but am now putting out less and less.. I wish they had them when I was buying decorations. all of mine are ancient except the 17 inch tree. you had a wonderful day and now we have shared it with you
ReplyDeleteGood morning Mari. This sounds like my kind of Sunday....Church, snow, good bowl of hot soup, snowy cloudy sky, and a gorgeous blanket of snow on the ground...PLUS...a cozy warm home. Love it all!! Enjoy this second week in December...
ReplyDeleteSo festive! Now I wish I had some of that soup. Yum! Before y'all know it it will be Christmas. Time sure is flying by. ❤️
ReplyDeleteYou did have a good day. Nice starting with church. Boy, you sure do live in the north though - I remember those scenes from when we lived in Chicago.
ReplyDeleteYour soup looked good. I made homemade veggie soup myself yesterday.
Stay warm.
Endeavor is it in Oxford? We have Morse and he is called Endeavor
ReplyDeleteWe are also eating soup at the moment we are having such a bad weather.
Our churches are closed… no priests and thieves! So they close the churches.
We used to go for midnight mass but not anymore. Glad you enjoyed your day.
Always love these catch-ups with you dear Mari! Sometimes those quiet days are the absolute perfect ones. :) Love the cozy of your home too. PS: loved your card! Merry Christmas season to you dear Friend ❤️💚
ReplyDeleteA nice first day of the month.
ReplyDeleteWe had Sunday school before church in the morning too.
Such a beautiful post, Mari! Gray skies in December just make indoors all the more cozy!
ReplyDeleteA lovely festive time of year. Your soup looks yummy and I love endeavor.
ReplyDeleteCathy

ReplyDeleteSoup is just wonderful for cold days.
All the best Jan
We have been having some of those gray days and soup is the best remedy :)
ReplyDeleteI actually shivered looking at your outside photos, Mari! Brrrrr!! The soup looks delicious and perfect for a cold, gray day. Stay warm!! xo
ReplyDeleteNice start to December! Isn't it nice to know on Sunday night that you do not have to get up for work on Monday?!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it was a super peaceful (and very pretty!) day!! Happy December!
ReplyDeleteEndeavour! Oh my word Erica and I are huge Endeavour fans! Morse before he was grumpy old Morse! Hahaha we have seen every episode. I love a cold gray Sunday and WOW that soup looks like it would really hit the spot on a day like that. And Sloppy Joes! So tasty and satisfying! xoxo
