Bob and I had a long weekend away this past weekend. We went to Northern Michigan with my sister Cheri and BIL Mark.
We had such a great time, and I plan to share some of our fun with you over the next few days.
We rented a condo in Traverse City; which is about 2 1/2 hours north of where we live. I had seen something about a bridge called the Little Mac Bridge; a footbridge in Manistee (named after the Mackinac Bridge). We decided to stop there and check it out. It's about 1 1/2 hours north of our home.
This is something else we saw while we were out. There was road construction going on, and the trucks, excavators, dump trucks... all said Team Elmer's. My Dad's name was Elmer, so we had to stop to take a picture. As Cheri said - we will always be Team Elmer!
We got back to the condo a little before the sun set. This is a view from the condo.
What a great first day away we had!

Looks like a wonderful place to get away!
ReplyDeleteWow, this last photo! The little sailboat perfectly framed by the trees with the pretty blue water and mountains in the background! I have never seen a suspension bridge like this. I am assuming it is only for walking? The town is pretty, and I bet also pretty at night. I see they have lights wrapped around the trees. Even the garage is pretty! And what a spacious condo! I can't wait for more!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous place...you captured it perfectly with your photos. x
ReplyDeleteIt's always nice to get away and to experience a new place isn't it? The town looks like a nice little town to visit.
ReplyDeleteFunny we are heading to TC in 2 weeks. Last time we were there the water levels were so high the boardwalk was underwater! I definitely want to stop in Manistee and see Little Mac!
ReplyDeleteUgh Mari first your pictures are GORGEOUS but wow there is nothing like rivers and bridges and little balconies in fall! We saw some leaf color while traveling up to Chicago but it's so lovely there in Michigan. The condo looks so comfortable and what a great getaway. I would never want to come home, hahaha! And yes: Team Elmer forever! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWow! What a gorgeous place. 😍 That bridge is so cool and reminds me of the big Mackinac bridge. :) Your condo was lovely - what a view! And I love you saw the team Elmer signs...that's awesome. Maybe a big of wink from your Dad. 😉💗
ReplyDeleteWhat a great weekend. Beautiful photos. I'd love to walk across that bridge!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful spot, and lovely pictures. Hard to decide which one I liked best, but I think it's the first one at the top.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly did have a great first day away.
ReplyDeleteLovely photographs.
All the best Jan
Oh my goodness - how did you pick Manistee River and that town? Had you been there before? I would love to go there. The condo was gorgeous too. I love a good barn too. Did you buy anything from downtown? Did you go with friends?
ReplyDeleteyou are having a grand get away. In many ways the pictures could of been taken here in NH there is a lot of things alike.

Everything looks so beautiful. I have fond memories of Michigan from my childhood.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place to spend time. The condo is really lovely, and I would love all of those patios! The picture you shared of the street in Traverse City reminds me of some of the streets in Maine.
ReplyDeleteI really like the barn picture! Neat that you saw the trucks with Team Elmer. I love Cheri's statement about always being Team Elmer. Special. xx
Looks like a beautiful trip and place to visit! Love all the photos! Was the weather cooler? I've always heard Traverse City was beautiful, and it looks like it is! Loved all the pictures.
ReplyDeleteI can see that the weather was fine nice for a getaway. The pictures are beautiful and the walk by the lake must have been nice.
ReplyDeleteThe condo looked great!
We use to go to Traverse City before it had the population boom. Such a beautiful area. Your condo was a nice one! Janice
