We had a fun overnight visit with Alaina and Ruby this past weekend. We started with supper on Friday night. We asked where they wanted to eat and they chose Chik-fil-A.
Here they are with some cow hats that came with their meals.
When we got home, we made some squishies which are always a hit. Ruby's was an elephant.
Alaina's was a turtle which is pretty hard to see here.
Later that evening, we told them we were going on a fun road trip. We picked up my brother and drove about 30 minutes away to an ice cream place that my Dad loved. He always wanted to go there to get their original chocolate malts. So Bob, my brother and I all had one with good memories of Dad.
The next day, the girls enjoyed time outside, even though it was very hot and humid!
Girls being silly!
Grandma always bugs them for pictures, and they are pretty cooperative about the whole thing, aside from the occasional "another one Grandma?"
We made a cute craft before bringing them home in the afternoon. We always have fun with them, and it seems quiet when they leave.
Looks like a fun weekend. I always love seeing what you do with your grands. I hope you have a good week!
ReplyDeleteThe last two photos are beautiful! You chose the location well, with the bench and flowers. I enlarged to ice-cream parlour photo. Looks like a cool place, and they even sell merchandise! You always have such fun things for them to do!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lot of fun. Going to that malt shop in memory of your dad was so nice! You made some special memories for sure!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful girls.

Oh what fun, the good things in life...the kids. The chocolate malt, oh that's so sad but also so cool that you brought your brother and went to your dad's fave place. My mother was also a huge fan of chocolate malt. Time just goes by too fast. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely time you had! Your grandchildren are darling and I bet they loved every minute of it.

They are so cute. Love their happy, smiling faces. 💙
ReplyDeleteHow special that you were able to visit the ice cream shop where your dad always enjoyed the original chocolate malts and that it gave you opportunity to think about and share with one another your memories of your dad. So special!
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of Alaina on the bench in the yard. Ruby is so cute! She looks like she's hot in the picture of her on the bench but she's being a good sport about it. xx
Sounds like another fun weekend with the grands.
ReplyDeleteYou really are blessed to have them living so close by...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mari, for letting us watch these two grow into such sweet young ladies!! I remember when Ruby was just learning to walk. I think she climbed before she walked, if I remember correctly!! It is so great that you are close to them and to sweet Cassie so that wonderful memories can continue to be made on those precious weekend visits! xo
ReplyDeleteUgh Mari tell those girls to STOP growing up!!!!! Such lovely girls, having a beautiful childhood. It makes me so happy to see it. That malt shop sounds like that absolute BEST fun road trip ever! I can see why your dear dad liked it! Such a pleasant summer interlude. GREAT pictures too! That one of them frolicking is brilliant with the bokeh! xoxo
