Every year, I take Alaina and Ruby out for a little before school shopping. This year we had a problem with scheduling and had to do it the week school started. However, they had half days, so I picked them up a little after noon for our time out.
We started with our usual picture together before we left.
I let them choose where to get lunch, and we ended up at McDonalds.
Then we were off to the shoe store. Ruby thought she wanted shoes with high heels... :) but we found these short boots that were a little more practical!
And here's my Alaina, being goofy and striking a pose with the shoes she found. They were both happy with their finds.
We then set off to find a shirt. The first place we went to no longer had kids clothes, the second one still had shorts and t-shirts.
Then we found these, cozy and warm. Ruby was thrilled because hers was so soft.
They thought we had done enough shopping at that point, so we went to the sunflower farm near us. It's owned by Bob's stepdad's family and has lots of fun things.
They've had baby kittens in the barn and the girls were so excited to see them, but they were in hiding.
They played a little cornhole...
Tried out the swing...
and got to use a hand pump.
We got some flowers to share with some special people.
We stopped and brought some to great grandma who was thrilled to see the girls.
We were hot from being outside, so we stopped for ice cream. Ruby had Superman ice cream.
I can't remember what kind Alaina chose but she said it was good.
Then it was time to go home. We brought Mom some flowers too.
We had such a fun time. They are growing up fast and I treasure these moments.
They are in 3rd and 6th grade. I'm praying they have a good year, with good friends and teachers, and they learn the important things!
All of the photos of them are wonderful, but I especially like the first one of the three of you. I also love your beautiful Boston Ferns. You sure know how to show the girls a fun time! They are both starting to look more mature, and I can see the beautiful young ladies they are becoming.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ginny! The ferns are at Laura's house. She has a green thumb, gets that from her Dad!
ReplyDeleteThey look so happy having fun throughout
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice day with the girls! Won't be long and Cassie will be joining you! They are growing so much and very beautiful!

ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a lovely day for all of you. Your granddaughters will have lasting memories of your special time together. I hope 3rd and 6th grades are good years for them.
ReplyDeleteUgh I love these kinds of posts, Mari!!!! I saved three of those photos to my Ruby and Alaina folder! Alaina's face is changing; she looks so much older. She is going to be a beautiful young woman soon. Ruby's eyes always catch at my heart -- there is so much joy in them. The shoes they chose are both attractive AND practical and their shirts will serve them well in the cold days to come. What a great day for you all. Love you xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat great fun! They sure are growing up. Lovely kids. xx
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome Grandma you are. The girls are growing up so fast. Making memories like this is so important and will last a lifetime, even after you are gone. So vital in this world today where everything is fleeting. You are blessed.
