Sunday was our 41st anniversary! It's hard for me to even believe that, as it seems such a short time ago. Then there's the fact that I don't feel old enough to have been married that long!
I was 20, Bob was 23 when we got married. Looking back, we were so young and although we thought we had everything figured out, we didn't. I'm so thankful for God's care and guidance through all those years.
I found a few wedding pics to show you.
My family; my sister Cheri (She was only 12 here) Dad, Mom (She's been in heaven for 19 years now), Me, Bob, my sister Terri and my brother Duane.
The cake picture!
We didn't have any big celebrations. Sunday is a quiet day for us, and a day I really enjoy. We had a wonderful service at church and 9 families joined - all ages from a family expecting another baby to 2 older widows. What a blessing. Then just a relaxing day.
We did go out to our favorite Italian restaurant Saturday night. I had a problem getting this photo because Bob was goofing off as I tried to take this picture. His sense of humor is one of the things I love about him!
Anniversary flowers! I went to the farm stand to get some fresh fruit on Saturday and they had these flowers. I came home with them and told Bob not to worry about getting flowers because I took care of it! He said I saved him some work! :)
We are blessed. We've had a wonderful 41 years together and we still like each other and spending time together!

Happy Anniversary, Mari! You and Bob were young marrieds - like Charly and I. I was 19 and he was 23 when we tied the knot. I love the pictures of you two when you were just starting out. So glad you had a nice relaxing anniversary. Enjoy the week ahead.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! The flowers you chose are beautiful. What wonderful wedding photos. And you seem not to have aged one day! How great that we both have husbands with a great sense of humor. How else would we have gotten through the rough spots in life?
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! Those are beautiful wedding pictures!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary and congratulations on reaching such a significant milestone.
ReplyDeleteAmazing. You both still like each other!!! These days that is a true accomplishment. Seriously. My favorite? You two as a couple, lighting the unity candle.
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary to you and Bob! Now, when I see young couples getting married and they are in their late teens or early twenties, I think, oh they are so young to be getting married even though that's the age most people my age married. Ha!
ReplyDeleteHi Mari- Congratulations to you and Bob- 41 years...time seems to drift by so quickly...my Christine and I have been Partners for 45 years this August...we're going on a Picnic this Thursday with Friends who are celebrating their 50th year of marriage. Best Wishes. KEV.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! Love your wedding pictures. My wedding dress was high necked and long sleeved too! I was 20 when I got married and Rich was 21. We probably could have saved ourselves a lot of grief if we only had waited and grown up a little more! But all turned out well. That was over 45 years ago! Congratulations again!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary. Many more to you both.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures and happy anniversary.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your wedding anniversary!
ReplyDeleteIn the pictures, Bob looks like a blonde swedish prince.
Wishing you many happy returns of the day!
Oh Happy 41st anniversary, you two! I loved seeing the pictures from your special day. The one of the two of you lighting the unity candle is so precious!
ReplyDeleteWe celebrated our 50th anniversary this past March. And I know what you mean...we don't feel old enough to have been married that long.
Happy Anniversary. Lovely to see all the beautiful wedding pictures.
ReplyDeleteI was 20 when married too.
Oh, my favorite kind of post. I LOVE wedding pictures! Just look at you and Bob. How special! I especially love the picture of you and Bob lighting the unity candle. You are beautiful...and still are. Love the first picture of your wedding and all your family. Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!! Looks like you guys had a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteAww Happy Anniversary and what sweet wedding photos! You made a beautiful bride.
ReplyDeleteNice flowers too.
I loved seeing your wedding pictures, Mari, and Bob with hair!! I also love your cake with stairs and a fountain! I made so many stair and fountain cakes back in the early 90s. So pretty!! Your anniversary dinner looks delicious! Time does indeed go so fast. Enjoy every moment!! Love & hugs to you both!!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated anniversary wishes, Mari!
ReplyDeleteI just love seeing these pictures!!! We got married ten years before you - I was 19, he was 21.
ReplyDeleteBy August 1982 we had all three of our birth children (ages 8, almost 6, and 2) plus 15-year-old Miki. Dick's mother had died from ovarian cancer a year before that, and my mother was fighting pancreatic cancer, a fight that would end a few months later. Life happened fast. When I feel overwhelmed now, I need to remember that God held me and heard my cries then and so many times since.
I laughed about your flower conversation!
Happy Anniversary dear Friends! I LOVE the pics!! Especially the unity candle one. Your veil is so pretty. You are such an amazing couple and I know that I only know you through blogland, but I can tell you are wonderful folks of true love, respect, faith, and kindness that I absolutely look up to as a relationship. I pray you have many more wonderful years ahead!! 🙏 💝
ReplyDeleteUGH this is so precious, I can't stand it. Happy Anniversary! The first picture -- Terri looks mischievous the way she's holding onto Bon's arm, and he looks like he's in on it, haaahaha! And in the cake pic, you're squeezing your eyes shut and he's got his eye on YOU big time, haaaha! And the happy couple picture ... that is just so timeless and special. In the picture where Bon is being a goofball at the restaurant, he's basically looking at you in that same way! Good job, both of you. You're an inspiration. BTW we attended a party at our church the other night hosted by our pastor's family, marking our pastor and his wife's fiftieth anniversary which is this coming Friday. They're still in love too, and cute as can be. Amen to that. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love those pictures. I never realized Aunt Cheri was only 12 when you got married - that's only a little older than Alaina! So thankful for you two and your great example of a marriage. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm catching up on all your posts today, Mari. This one was the most fun and I love your story, congratulations to you both!! I think you had the most important thing figured out, since it's been 41 years!! And...I know I've said this to you before, but after seeing your sunflower photos, I'll say it again. You have a gift when it comes to photography. You should put your photos together in a big coffee table book. I'd be first on line to purchase your views of back roads, old barns, flowers and skylight. Enjoy the weekend!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad y'all have such a blessed and happy marriage. This reminds me that my baby brother and his bride will be celebrating 50 years in January. Time just doesn't stand still; I can hardly believe it. My daughter was about 8 I guess; I'll have to find a picture of them all. I can just remember how nervous Mike was; he turned 20 the next month and my sister-in-law the next October. I'm sorry Mari, I just got to thinking and talking too much. :)
I so love your photos of that special and blessed day. You were a beautiful bride and Bob a handsome groom!
xoxo
