One of the doctors I work with has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. She asked those of us who work in the office to come join her and her family at her cottage Sunday afternoon for a celebration of hope and a short prayer service to commemorate her completion of the first round of chemo.
Her cottage is about an hour south of our house, on Lake Michigan.
We drove down with another nurse and her husband. It was a nice drive, but the skies were looking a bit dark.
This tiny little building is next to her cottage. It is 1 bedroom with a full bath. She says her elderly dad stays here when the family all comes. This way he has a nice quiet place to stay.
Here are a few photos of Lake Michigan. The cottage is on a high bluff, overlooking the lake.
The lake was quiet, this was the only boat we saw all afternoon.
This little group was playing some beautiful music.
It started raining quite hard during our prayer time. We huddled under umbrellas and then had a light supper before driving home.
It was a very nice time and our doctor was very thankful that we all came, and so were we.
Her cottage is gorgeous, and she lives in such a beautiful place.I wish her well with her treatments, and hope she tolerates them well.
ReplyDeleteExtraordinary gathering for her support. And beautiful country!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely house and property setting. I am sorry to hear about the doctor's diagnosis with cancer and hope she does well with her chemo treatments.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear of the doctor's diagnosis, but what a blessing that she is a Believer and that she hosted this time of prayer and fellowship.
ReplyDeleteWe have close friends who are moving to Michigan. They just built their retirement home on one of the lakes. A beautiful area!
Hi Mari. That is a beautiful house in a beautiful setting. It is so good that your doctor friend ask so many to pray and exercise faith for her. It is good of you to give your support and prayers.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cottage. Your friend is in my prayers. Has she heard of Fenbendozol? I hear it has helped some people.
ReplyDeleteHow special to part of this and what a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet cottage and that little house too! The gathering, the reason for it, the setting...all so heart tugging, most in a good way. I pray her treatments are successful, just as I also pray for my DIL. (If only her body could tolerate something soon)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to have a gathering of hope with fellow believers, and in such a gloriously beautiful setting. If you tell me her first name, I will add her to my prayer list, Mari. Thanks for sharing the experience with us! xo
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful cottage home and her father's little cottage is adorable. It sounds like such a blessed time. I sure hope she receives all the treatment well, with no adverse reactions that would thwart her recovery. Keep us updated.
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming cottage and an idyllic location. I hope her treatments go well, it was lovely of you all to go.
ReplyDeleteWhat a special gathering! I love that house and the area. I am so glad you got to be a part of the prayer group!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous place she has been privileged to live in. She sounds like a lady who is grateful for all God has allowed her to accomplish and to have. How beautiful heaven must be! xoxo

ReplyDeleteI have said a prayer for the doctor and her family.
Wow this is so beautiful Mari. Not only the scenery and adorable cottage. But the power of uniting around a fellow friend in need. Prayer has power and the Lord is so good. I have no doubt she was extra blessed by the visit of you all. 🙏
