We celebrated Valentine's Day a little early. Our church has had a Valentine's supper for the last few years and every year more people come. This year there were 130 people who came. They served two suppers on Friday night; one at 5:30 and the second at 6:45.
We went to the second supper, as we both were working that day.
We had to reserve our spots in advance, and they assigned us to tables. Some tables had 2 couples, others had 3. This isn't only for couples, some of the widows in our church came together because they wanted to take part in it too.
They had everything decorated very nicely.
We had ordered what we wanted ahead of time. They had prime rib or chicken, beans or corn, mashed potatoes or rice pilaf, soup or salad. They have prime rib every year and it's restaurant quality. There was even a selection of deserts to choose from at the end. The whole meal was excellent, and they provided carry out boxes for the leftovers.
We were at a table with 2 other couples. This is our friend P.J., and that's not a bow tie, he was goofing around with his napkin.
This is my friend Mara who was also at our table. We all said the fun at the table was as good as the food!
The youth from our church do all the serving. They are always a little nervous, but end up having a good time. Here's a few of them relaxing when things were winding up.It was a fun night; we thought even better than going out to some fancy restaurant!
One more thing... Happy Birthday to my best Valentine's gift! Our daughter Heather was born on Valentine's Day. Heather; we hope you have a wonderful day!
What a fun and wonderful event! Happy Valentines Day to you and your hubby. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteThis looks just like the Valentine dinner our church has! Right down to the tables. But we never had prime rib, what a treat. Ours was also open to single people. You had me fooled with the napkin,it looks just like a big bow tie! How special that your daughter was born on Valentine's Day!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a great time. The picture reminds me of my church. We set up tables in the sanctuary because the fellowship hall has gotten too small.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your Valentine girl!

That looks like such a fun time. Many churches in my area do something similar. We went for dinner, with friends, at our local country club Saturday night. We had prime rib and ours was gray in color! lol Yours looks much better!
ReplyDeleteThe food looks so good! And more happy memories with loving Church people. That makes life so great.
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentines Day y'all. xx
Happy birthday to Heather.
ReplyDeleteOur church had a couples dinner too but we haven't gone for the past couple of years. Maybe next year we'll go again.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your daughter.
I love this so much!! I remember when our youth at Grace Community Fellowship in Manheim did this for the married adults at Valentines. So special!
ReplyDeleteOh, how fun. I love prime rib, but only have it at weddings and it's been years since we've been to one, so I was drooling at the shot of your plate!!
ReplyDeleteAwwww, happy birthday, Heather! Truly a sweet gift. Your banquet looks as though it was a great success as always! The servers look like quality kids! That's nice to see. xoxo
