Basilica of St Adelbert

The city of Grand Rapids, MI is close to me, we are there frequently.  Last month I was there for some training, and on my way home, I found myself in an area I hadn't been in before, with a beautiful building to check out.  I've seen this place from the highway and always wanted to see it closer, and here it was!

This is the Basilica of St Adelbert.  Those domes are visible from the highway and have always intrigued me.

I really like those big doors.

Such beautiful stained glass.
It was nice to see this place close up, and now when I see it from the highway, I can say I've been there!

  1. Wow, that is quite a beautiful church. Some of the most beautiful buildings in the worlds are build to the glory of God by numerous different religions. Hope your week is going well.

  8. Once this pandemic is over I want to take a vacation in Michigan. I have several friends who live there; one has a Lavender Farm. Everything I have seen about Michigan is beautiful.

I appreciate architecture; old buildings and churches and the history.

  10. I love big churches like this and was in a basilica in Milwaukee before and also saw amazing places in Europe - the biggest being St. Peter's basilica in Rome! Stained glass will always be my love language.
