(the sky this week)
My cousin is married to a man from Ireland. They recently moved to the United States and live near me in Michigan. Her husband shared this Irish poem which he says sums up the weather here lately!
"It rained and rained and rained.
The average Fall was well maintained
and when the tracks were simply bogs,
It started raining cats and dogs.
After a drought of half an hour
We had the most refreshing shower.
And then the most curious thing of all
A gentle rain began to fall.
Next day was also fairly dry
Save for a deluge from the sky
Which wetted the party to the skin
And after that the rain set in!"
I love it, it is so clever!!
ReplyDeleteHa, ha...very funny. It describes exactly what is happening in my world right now too!
ReplyDeleteIrish people have a lot of funny poems and sayings! Love it!
ReplyDelete:)
I guess the title of the Irish poem is simple enough? "Wet"
ReplyDeletePretty sky Mari.
Now that is cute and right on! Summer in Florida, too! Tell him his poetry is admired and appreciated!
ReplyDeleteYes, that describes our weather perfectly lately. The ground is squishy all the time!
ReplyDeleteLovely poem, but too much rain is not so lovely.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, he is well accustomed to rainy weather, having been born and raised in Ireland. He must feel right at home!!!!! -giggles-

mist replies;
darkness purrs

Seems so true for this tine of year, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteLove it.
ReplyDeleteIt's rained like that here this year and I'm not complaining. We've needed it so badly for about 27 years.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't ya just love Irish sayings?! So cute and clever. It's nice being mostly Irish. We have such a rich heritage worthy to be proud of.
Blessings. xx
Aptly describes the weather here too!
