Another Update

I can't believe I am updating yet again about covid, but that's what I'm still dealing with! I'm improving, but too slowly to meet my approval.   Right now I have a little dry cough, and sometimes still have a queasy stomach with not much of an appetite.  However, the worst thing I'm dealing with is this weakness and fatigue. I find I need to do tasks in small parts and rest between.

I went back to work for 2 half days last week, and plan to be back to a regular week this week.  I'm concerned about how that will go, and am also not looking forward to what the week brings - a planned visit by the State because of Covid.  As the infection Control nurse, I know I'll have to deal with them, and they are never known to be nice.

As far as our residents, they are doing well.  We only had one resident who got sick enough to go to the hospital and that person has returned.  Most of our residents had no symptoms, so we're thankful for that!

I wanted to share a few things people did for me that I thought were pretty smart and I plan to remember when trying to help out someone else who is sick.
Small portions - my daughter Laura brought over some chicken rice soup in individual servings, perfect for me to just heat and eat.
Toast and jam!  I would never have thought of this, but a friend brought a meal for Bob, and along with that, some bread and homemade strawberry jelly.  I lived on that toast and jam for several days and am still enjoying the jam.
A photo a day - Heather sent me a smiley photo of Cassie every day.  It always brightened my spirits!
Cards and flowers - always a winner and a something that makes a heart happy to see them setting out.
Messages instead of phone calls - I didn't feel like talking on the phone at all, so I appreciated people who just sent a message checking or telling me they were praying.

Thanks to all my blogging friends!  I've appreciated your  messages, prayers, cards.  I hope this is my last covid update,  :)

  3. Oh gosh, Mari, that all sounds terrible. I'm so sorry you're still not feeling 100%. I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers and I'm glad that you've had a few bright treats to make you smile and keep your spirits up. Sending big virtual hugs my friend. Be well and rest when you can...xo

  4. Mari, I am so sorry you are still puny. My BIL who is a general surgeon got it in December and he had the tiredness most of all. It took him a while to recover to the point where he could do surgery again. Oh and the state board people.....brings back bad memories.:) Hugs.

  5. Wow, sounds like you have really been through the wringer with Covid! I am glad that you are finally on the mend. I loved these ideas for helping out anyone who is "under the weather" for whatever reason. I am glad you got in that fun family vacation to the Great Smoky Mountains before you got sick. Thanks for keeping us updated. Prayers that you will soon be completely back to normal.

  8. I'm so glad people were kind and thoughtful and did little things to help you feel better. I'm sorry to hear your recovery is slow going. I hope going back to regular hours won't be too much on you this week. Try to take is easy as much as you can. Hope you are all better soon!

  9. You and Bob remain in my daily prayers, Mari. I am glad you are better but sure wish you were back 100% before you have to be back at work full time. I will pray about those inspectors and hope they have some compassion. COVID is sneaky and lurks just everywhere. I still have no idea where Joe was exposed (and I wasn't). We were careful for a year - just like you - but there it was. Praying!

  12. I do hope you are able to cope with work this week, especially with the people from the state. I'm sure they mean well but I understand what you are saying about them. ha! I guess we all have our jobs to do and want to do them as best we can, not meaning to be harsh towards anyone although it doesn't always seem that way:) Take care of yourself and don't be afraid to take more time off if needed.

  13. Bless your heart. I've been concerned about y'all. When we had it, we did the small portions too. It took at least 6-8 weeks for both of us to feel 100%. If you're doing this well now, and you are, you'll be fine quick as a wink. I think remaining upright helps a lot. I slept in the recliner for about a week when I first had it (before anyone knew what "it" was). Kept my lungs clear. Be sure to rest often. Don't push yourself.
Still sending prayers & blessings for a quick recovery! God's got this. xx

  17. Now how in H*** did you go in to work? And how are you going in to work, to deal with *$%^)&#%^&*(%^$$ State Inspectors?????

    What more can I say?

Especially, since I have said *more than enough,* already.

But I just hate to see people, made to do things, which they should not be made to do. And still being so sick, you should not have to do this.

Ok, ok... I'll stop. I'll stop.

    Gentle hugs,
    🎀💛🎀

  22. So sorry you are still feeling effects from that nasty virus. Praying for you this week! A state visit is hard enough when feeling well. It's been 11 yrs since going through one of those but the memories are still very keen.
