Not so wordless wednesday

I was driving home from work the other day, admiring the beauty around me.  I went past a pond that I drive by often, and as usual, there were lots of geese around.  The geese and the trees made such a pretty scene that I stopped for a photo.

As I continued on, I thought I saw something unusual next to the little stream by the pond.  I stopped and backed up (this is a dirt road with very little traffic, so I could safely do that!)

This is what I saw!

A blue heron!  I think they are such an elegant bird.  As I watched, he flew off.  I was so glad that I saw him with my camera ready!

  2. This is a Great Blue Heron. They are so big and impressive!! The geese are Canada geese. Your pictures are gorgeous, and the beautiful colors and scenery are stunning. Especially love the one of the Heron, right in the middle of the falls! These photos would make beautiful postcards or calendar pictures. So glad you stopped to snap these!!

  3. Oh my word, how beautiful. I’ve never seen such a large crane, only the smaller ones that used to walk on the shore near our old home.

  4. You got some awesome pictures! I wish I lived in the country! One day I took a walking break across the street. There was a water all around the office in a garden setting. I remember saw a crane and took a picture of it. Then I thought who is having a baby. It reminded me of a stork. Turned out my daughter was. That baby will be 13 next month!

  10. We have a crane that comes to eat the fish he finds in our pond. We watch him eat and one can see it go down is throat. Head way back....and down it goes.
