I had 2 nieces graduate from high school this year. They missed the last part of school, prom, graduation ceremony and all those fun last days at school. Both of my sisters had been set on a graduation party, but then the lock down happened. I know people are all doing their parties in different ways, but here is what my sister Cheri did for Halle's party.
She set it up to be a drive through party. They set up a tent in their yard, and staked out a drive for people to go through. If people wanted to get out and look at her pictures and the other things set up, they could. If they just wanted to drive through and talk out the window, they could do that too.
It was a sunny, breezy day, so you can't read this, but it was hanging in a big arch at the end of the driveway. It said "welcome to my drive through party!"
The drive was lined with these cute banners in red and black - school colors.
This sign was in the yard.
Here's the tent. As you can see a lot of people weren't worried about getting out of the car.
Here's the graduate!
Cheri made these cute bags for people to take home. The tassel was worth the hassle!
Here's what was in the bag; tootsie rolls, smarties, a little graduation cap cookie, a bottle of water or pop, a card with a note from Halle and a package of microwave popcorn that said "thanks for popping by!"
It was very cute and a nice way to celebrate the graduate in these crazy times.
AWESOME! Congratulations! Our town put up each and every seniors photos on the tennis court fence. I will get by to take a photo.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a fun idea. We had a drive through graduation at the school where I teach. It turned out great! Congrats to your nieces on their graduation! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI love how people and communities are celebrating graduations this year. We just had one for our grandson. I hope things will go back to normal next year! I like the cute gift bags!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea. I enjoyed the pictures. Congrats to Halle!
ReplyDeleteHow clever. One day in their life that won't be forgotten! And, she's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good idea and am sure the graduates wont forget this for years to come. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Have a good Monday and week ahead.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! 🎉
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your niece, this was a great idea. I feel bad for all the kids who missed out on the fun associated with the end of high school. My daughter graduated from college with no fan fair or ceremony, as well. It's a bummer, but she said that she would rather it be college than high school. Like you said, award ceremonies, yearbook signings, parties, prom, etc., those are milestones no one should have to miss.
ReplyDeleteSo many people had had to do something different for graduation this year. So clever!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to celebrate! I'm glad a lot of people got out of their cars to be present. Awesome! Thanks for sharing Halle's special time! Congratulations to her!
ReplyDeleteA very creative way to celebrate. Congratulations to your nieces.
ReplyDeleteThat is so great! She's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat is SO special. I used to read Cheri's blog and Terri's blogs years ago, when Halle was so little!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet party. I think it's sad these graduates had to miss all the fun of a prom, and then graduation. That was really special.
ReplyDeleteI love how creative people are becoming in this time of social distancing. The things that everyone just took for granted are now not happening, but at least new ideas are taking their place.
ReplyDeleteI knew this already but I'm struck once again by how much cleverness runs in your family! This is a truly cute idea. I feel for the kids whose senior years were interrupted and all of the end-of-year festivities missed, but it's nice that some families took the initiative and found a way to celebrate in spite of everything. Congratulations to Halle! xoxo
