Every year for probably the last 25 years, my two sisters and I have done a Christmas shopping trip. We don't actually go away, but shop in our area, then stay in a hotel at night and do a little finishing up on Saturday. This past Friday and Saturday were the days for this year. We always have so much fun together, lots of laughter and lots of shopping!
Here's Terri and Cheri, checking out at one of the stores. We started at 9 and shopped til 5, when we stopped for supper.
We ate at a favorite restaurant - I forgot to take a picture of my meal, but got one of my takeout box. They are large portions - this is 1/2 of my Penne Con Pollo - Chicken Pasta with sun dried tomatoes and pin nuts. It was yummy!
We stopped at a few more places after supper, and made it to the hotel at 8pm.
It's always a chore hauling all those packages to the room. We then sort through everything and mark down what we've purchased.
We had gotten dessert to go, and enjoyed that treat once everything was sorted and packed into bags, ready to go back to the car in the morning.
We usually stay up fairly late talking, but we were in bed by 11 this time. All that shopping is tiring!
The next morning we were up bright and early. We had breakfast at the hotel, then made a few more stops to finish up before heading home.
Here's my bags, ready for an afternoon of wrapping. I put on a Hallmark movie and spent the afternoon wrapping gifts.
It was a really productive weekend!
Such a fun way to get the Christmas shopping done!! It always impresses me that you sisters do this each year and then you even get your gifts wrapped! We don't have much shopping to do anymore. Gift cards to the grandkids (who are adults now) and Joe and I don't get each other much anymore. Christmas was a lot more fun when the kids were little and everyone got into Santa coming. I miss it.
ReplyDeleteYou and your sisters did some serious shopping. It is very tiring but it is so nice you get to spend time with your sisters each year for this special occasion. It looks like you all had success with the shopping trip.
ReplyDeleteI love the Christmas Hallmark movies, it’s so nice to curl up and watch one. I’m glad to read about your trip with your sisters. It’s that time of year again... but I haven’t even got started. I’m finally getting over a bad respiratory virus that I got at the beginning of October, it would seem to be getting better but would get worse, or an ear infection would be diagnosed. I truly want to start enjoying this time of year and your post has put me in the right frame of mind! 😀
ReplyDeleteI always love your shopping trips with your sisters. It's a lovely family tradition. I don't know how you cope shopping for so many hours! I can manage one hour before I've had enough and want to go!
ReplyDeleteWow! You gals hit the mother life for gift shopping. This is probably so much fun, y'all look forward to this special time together!!
ReplyDeleteI remember your shopping trips with your sisters and think it is a great idea. Glad you found things you wanted and had fun at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI always look forward to this post, smiles. Have a great day Mari!
ReplyDeleteI can not even imagine having all my Christmas shopping done and wrapped before Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteAnother fun memory for you sisters!! I am waiting to order some of mine from Amazon!!
ReplyDeleteyou are truly organized! I so admire that (not one of my strong suits … ) … and the time spent with your sisters is a huge blessing! so happy for you all … big hugs ...
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy reading about your sister's Christmas shopping trip. Wrapping while watching Hallmark movies sounds fun. One Christmas Hallmark movie was made this past summer in nearby Helen, GA. I look forward to looking for familiar landmarks!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had fun! I thought I heard some laughing in the distance! 😁
ReplyDeleteIs it really time for the sisters shopping trip again? Haaahaa! Amazing. I'd like to know how you decide who gets a bed to herself ... flip a coin? Oldest? Youngest? Do tell. Also I too put on a Christmas movie while I wrap gifts! It's one of my favorite things to do. I'll be putting the tree up early this year and I already have lots of stuff to go under it. We're off to the races! xoxo
