I can't say I'm happy about it, but Fall is coming, like it or not! So here we are in September. It was a quiet Sunday for the most part. Here's how my day went.
I've been on call all week and it has been quite a week. I've had so many calls and texts and Saturday night into Sunday was no exception. I keep my phone right by the bed when I'm on call and I was woken up twice during the night. The night before was much worse, at least I got some sleep on this night. :)
I was up at 7:30. It's really been staying dark longer in the morning.
This was our back yard around 8. You can see it still isn't real bright outside.
We left for church a little after 9. Church starts at 9:30 and the sanctuary was still dark when I popped in to take this picture.
We have been reading through the Bible as a congregation this year, and this past week we were in Daniel, so the message was on Daniel today. Our service was done shortly after 11.
After church, in the Narthex. People having coffee and talking.
Driving home, we went past this field which was full of Dahlia's, but they are coming to an end too.
We got home a bit after 11:30 and Bob got to work grilling some hot dogs for lunch. We haven't had hot dogs all summer, so I decided that would be a nice easy Sunday lunch.
While he was grilling, I was walking around the yard, and thought the flag against the trees looked especially pretty.
Our front walk is also showing the signs of Fall. Acorns are dropping everywhere!
He did a fine job on those dogs! And no - we didn't eat them all. 2 for him, 1 for me and lots of leftovers.
After lunch, we read the paper and then thought we would take a nice Sunday nap. Bob usually takes a short nap on Sunday. I don't because if I do, I can't get to sleep on time at night. But - I had Monday off because of Labor Day so I figured this was the day to enjoy a nap.
25 minutes after I laid my chair back, my phone rang! Yes, it was work calling again and yes, that was it for the nap...
I did some reading. This book is the second of a 2 part series. I like this Author's books and this series is really interesting to me as it's set in Holland Michigan in the late 19th century. As I live close to Holland, it's very interesting to read about places I know, and things I know of the history of the city.
We had an easy supper of pizza burgers and watched one of our favorite Netflix shows - Midsomer Murders. And of course, while we were watching it, more phone calls came in... I'm just thankful they were things I could handle on the phone without having to go in!
All in all it was a relaxing day, and a good start to September.
Wow you had quite the start to September. I too have noticed the signs of Fall both in the garden and in the air. I do love Fall but don't look forward to Winter which seems to come all too soon. Your book looks like a nice read.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you could handle things over the phone. Sorry your nap got interrupted!!Your yard is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteHope you don't have to be on call very often. Things at your house are so green and pretty.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your more relaxing first day of the month. But wow! Being on call is no joke!!
ReplyDeleteYou have to be exhausted. Glad you had a little time at home tho! Your yard is beautiful and so is your church. I enjoy Midsomer Murders too.
ReplyDeleteI love Midsomer Murders. I love hot dogs and would not have stopped at one. I HATE YOUR PHONE when you're on call. If I was there I'd have surreptitiously separated it from your side and buried it out there in that pretty yard. With a sledge hammer. And that is all. xoxo
ReplyDeleteHotdogs always taste better on the grill!! Hope you have a more restful week ahead!
ReplyDeleteBeing on call sounds terrible! I hope you are able to rest next weekend!
ReplyDeleteFabulous pics... I just love your yard,
ReplyDeleteWe are working through Romans at our church. Hard going in some places but our Pastor explains it well.
Ahhhhh Midsomer Murders... The Murder Capital of the Uk.. Their house prices must be so low...and it makes you wonder how many people are still alive!. Love the show...and have watched it since it started..(a looong time ago) It was Sunday Night must back in the UK.
Lets hope next weekend will be call free
