We picked them up after supper and headed home, but made a pit stop at our church. We have a big area next to the church building that we use for outdoor events, and about a month ago a nice playset was set up for the kids to use. We thought we would let Alaina and Ruby check it out.
They were excited to see it!
Ruby in the play kitchen area.
Alaina loves to hang upside down.
Alaina and Bob having a little talk.
Alaina...
Seeing who could get to the bottom the fastest.
Alaina was walking the side beam, Ruby had to try it too, but wanted Grandpa to help her.
We got home shortly before 8 and I thought the girls would be ready to go inside...
but they wanted to play on our playset too!
Ruby was checking out the dog next door, who was barking because of all the laughing and squealing going on over here.
Then it was time to come in and clean up. They had crackers and cheese with Grandpa and we watched Mary Poppins.
Alaina, hanging upside down again - watching a movie that way!
Ruby snuggled up with Bob and her bunny to watch the movie.
They slept good and were up around 8am.
Bob had Saturday off which doesn't happen often, so they were excited to do things with him.
This little yard cart used to belong to Bob's Dad. It usually hauls yard waste, but on this day, Bob hooked it up and gave the girls a ride. They had a blast!
Then they had fun riding bikes. Alaina is on the trike which she can hardly pedal anymore, but they still haul it out. We have gotten our money out of it - it went through all 3 of our kids, and now both girls and is still going strong.
They got out the squirt guns, and Grandpa and Grandma both got wet!
Grandpa told Ruby to water the flowers instead of us. :)
We have a lot of oak trees in our yard, and they frequently have some dead branches that need to come down. Bob was throwing a rope across them and pulling them down - and the girls were "helping". Bob made sure they stayed far back so no branches fell on them.
taking a little rest!
I had to go to the store and the girls were coming along. I said we could pick up lunch and bring it back to Grandpa. He told them, "Just don't get broccoli!"
They thought that was so funny and they wanted to get broccoli and tell him it was his lunch. So, of course we got some to take home.
On the way home, they were planning how they would tell him he had to eat it and have nothing else for lunch.
Here they are laughing over the trick they played on him.
We did a craft project in the afternoon and got them back to their house about 3:30. We had such a fun time, and the house seemed very quiet when I got home.
Oh my goodness - you packed a lot into one day! They sure did have a lot of fun. I love seeing Ruby snuggle with Dad - so cute. And them riding around in the cart, I bet they had a blast!
ReplyDeleteI can't tell who is having more fun!! These girls are growing so tall. I remember when Ruby was a baby.
ReplyDeleteBoy my legs just glow, gotta get some color on those snow poles.
ReplyDeleteIt takes so little to have a happy child. Wondering why we don't all just stop and smell the roses like this?
ReplyDeleteI always look forward to seeing and hearing Ruby and Alaina stories. They make me smile. :)
ReplyDeleteLittle ones keep you young:) How fun to have them and watch them just be kids.
ReplyDeleteI think I say it every time the girls sleep over and y'all have so much fun!! Can I please be your granddaughter? What fun and what wonderful memories you are making for those sweet girls!
ReplyDeleteI cant believe how much they are growing, Mari, smiles...So, did Bob ever eat his broccoli? (lol)
ReplyDeleteHaha the broccoli made me laugh. I bet you are exhausted after they leave but I'm sure it's lots of fun too. They are growing up so fast!
ReplyDeleteThey are so lucky to have you both. You are making wonderful memories with them.
ReplyDeleteWho needs summer camp when you can go to Grandma and pops? You guys are awesome!
ReplyDeleteAlaina and Ruby are growing so tall! That is amazing about the tricycle lasting so long. I love the shot of them sitting on the bench in your yard. Such a pretty place. That is so cute about the broccoli trick they played on Bob. As for hanging upside down, I get dizzy right sight up!!! lol You are truly blessed and thank you for sharing the little ones with us.
ReplyDeleteThose are two sweet girls! Can you imagine watching a movie hanging up-side-down. I would be sick as a dog. :)
ReplyDeleteI swear you folks have the best time!! Would you mind adopting me? Lol Love these peeks into your beautiful world and family Mari! ❤️
ReplyDeleteI knew Alaina was part bat! Haahaha ... and that church playset is really something. Dagny would be into that big time. How she'd love hanging out (or upside down) with Ruby and Alaina! What a wonderful childhood they're having. Truly idyllic, thanks in large part to you and Bob. xoxo
