We had an absolutely gorgeous weekend here in West Michigan. Unfortunately the prediction for the week isn't so good, but we are making progress! Spring seems very late this year, the ground has stayed cold so even the early bloomers haven't been showing their faces.
I walked around the yard Saturday to see if I could find anything popping through the ground now that the snow is finally gone.
We had several ice storms which means we have lots of twigs and branches all over the yard.
Mixed with the branches are lots of acorns that came down after the snow started, so they had to wait for Spring to be raked up.
Here's a flower! But, it's just the last one hanging on the hydrangea tree from last year.
But here, on the edge of the woods are daffodil popping up. Soon there will be bright yellow flowers blooming.
And there are even some iris popping up.
Guess what? One lone crocus has managed to bloom. More will soon be coming.
I love Spring! This is just the beginning!
Lovely to see signs of Spring isn't it? I am always amazed at the hardiness of Spring flowers despite the cold and inclement conditions that sometimes exist. We've had good warm weather here awhile but but this past week it rained heavily and yesterday was downright cold. We really do need the rain though because the province has already had about 2 wildfires break out at the tail end of our warmer spell. Without more rain we will have a super dry summer.
ReplyDeleteThey are coming! It wont be much longer until there will be flowers everywhere. Ours are in full bloom and the pollen is 'screaming'.
ReplyDeleteYep same here....lovely photos, Mari. I just read the weather; grr.....I'm not going to comment on that, sigh.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a lovely week, my friend. smiles
Pretty time of year. I LOVE daffodils.
ReplyDeleteOur daffodils have been and gone already! The last few are hanging on for dear life but the tulips are not out yet.
ReplyDeleteThose spring blooms really lift our spirits don't they Mari?
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you will have lots of colors around in time for Easter!!
ReplyDeleteAll the same here. SO SLOW to add any green or blooming flowers! But days like we've had the past three will surely help things along.
ReplyDeleteYour yard will be lush and lovely in no time! xoxo
