We had some fun visitors at the nursing home this week.
Our local zoo has a program where they take some animals out for educational purposes. They came to visit us, and our residents were quite excited about it.
Here's a few of the critters that came.
This is a wood turtle. Everyone got to touch its shell which was exciting for some, and others weren't thrilled.
This is a salamander. It couldn't be touched because it absorbs things into its skin which puts it as risk, even from perfume and lotions. I must admit, it's not something I would want to touch anyway!
This owl was the favorite. It's an owl that was injured and can't fly, so it stays at the zoo. Isn't it cute?
This was a fun event for our residents and the staff enjoyed it too!
That owl is just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful critters. I've never been up close with an owl but we owned a big turtle once like the one in your photo. My uncle brought him back to Canada after picking him up on the road in Idaho. Not sure why such a big turtle was on the road in Idaho. Back then it was different times. If he tried today I doubt he would get across the border. Sadly the turtle escaped one day and unless he was found he would have frozen in the bitter cold of the north.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely idea for the residents! I'm sure they really enjoyed that!
ReplyDeleteHow nice that they bring them and what a treat.
ReplyDeleteThat's so nice, and anything that makes the resident's happy is a big plus! Thanks for sharing, Mari.
ReplyDeleteThe owl looks like a painting!

That's brilliant! The residents must've been so thrilled to see the animals up close and personal. The owl is awesome. xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh, how fun! I am sure the residents enjoyed having these cute creatures in their home {{smiles}}
