There is always something new blooming this time of year. Bob and I often wander the yard after supper to see what's happening.
Before I show you the flowers, I have to show you the weather we've been dealing with this past weekend.
Here's the thermometer, showing a temp of 101 on Saturday. We Michigan people aren't used to this, and I'm very thankful for air conditioning!
We have a lot of hosta in our shady front yard. We have some that are very small, and some with huge leaves. The colors vary from bright green to this beautiful dark color. Their flowers aren't much to speak of but I love the foliage.
One of my favorites. The lavender is about to bloom! You can imagine how good it smells in this corner of the yard.
This yarrow adds a nice spot of color!
This Jackmanii clematis is making Bob very happy. He planted it a few years ago on our gate to the backyard, it's finally established and blooming this year.
This is another clematis, in our backyard. I don't know the name, but really enjoy the flowers.
This trellis in the backyard has clematis on one side and roses on the other.
Roses are such classic beauties.
This is Ladies Mantle. They collect rain drops like jewels.
Even some baby's breath!
These are Stella D'Oro lilies. They aren't very tall and have lots of blooms, giving a nice row of color.
These are mystery lilies. Bob ordered red carpet lilies which were supposed to low growing. Instead we got these pink and white lilies which are about 3 feet tall! But, we like them and decided they were a good surprise!
Wow!! So much variety and beauty! And you know the names of everything! I love those mystery lilies!
ReplyDeleteThey are all so beautiful.....you dont have to leave home to enjoy a garden....you have your own right there. I love the lavender especially.
ReplyDeleteMari, why my comment says unknown is unknown to me, but this is Linda in Tennessee.
ReplyDeletewow! It is so hot. Despite the heat your garden is doing well.
ReplyDeleteIt is hot here as well but not that hot Mari...hope that heat wave breaks soon.
ReplyDeleteSigh, same weather here in western NY. I love your photos. smiles
ReplyDeleteWow, that's hot...we didn't see above 96....but the humidity made it feel 100+. Your flowers are beautiful! I like your surprise lily!
ReplyDelete101? Goodness gracious, Mari! Yes, happy you have A/C.
ReplyDeleteY'all are surrounded by beautiful flowers! I wish the grasshoppers would leave mine alone. :(
Happy July!
xoxo
What pretty flowers you have and yes 101 is very unusual for you.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful and you've taken such great photos of them. Stay cool!
ReplyDeleteYou and Bob have such a beautiful yard. I would walk around it each evening too! I know you both work hard to make it so pretty. Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful. I can't understand why Lavender will not grow in my yard. I bought two pots to try again. One is already completely dead and the other is well on it's way. :(
ReplyDeleteYour flowers look beautiful Mari. All so fresh and healthy. Our garden is very heavy clay soil which makes for very heavy work.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful pics of your flowers. What a nice surprise those pink and white lilies are!
ReplyDeleteIt's all incredibly pretty but that picture of the roses on the trellis is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen! xoxo
