Weekend report

Hope you all had a nice weekend!  I had a busy, but nice one.  I had to work 11-7 Friday night, so I spent several hours sleeping on Saturday, but Saturday night we took my Dad and step-mom out for supper.

We went to one of our favorite restaurants in town, which is an Italian restaurant.  Here's Dad and Ann with their enormous servings of chicken fettucine.  Needless to say, a lot went back home with us, but it was very good and we had a nice time together.

Sunday we had church in the morning, then we went for a picnic lunch and a little hike in a nearby park.  It was quite cool when we started out, but by mid afternoon it was very nice outside.

We brought supper over to Bobs mom and stepdad in the evening.  I made us panini sandwiches and a yummy dessert.  Bobs stepdad is legally blind and had early onset Alzheimer's so sometimes it's easier to just eat at home.  We had a nice evening with them too, but I totally forgot to take a picture!

I had thought I was going to have to work on Sunday, so I told my girls not to plan any Mother's Day activities.  We'll see them and celebrate later. I did get to talk to Andy who was driving home to Kentucky from New York.

My work situation has been very crazy lately, and I've had to work a lot of hours because of this nursing shortage.  Last week I worked 68 hours and hope not to repeat that anytime soon!
My friend Dianna from Forgiven knows how stressful work has been and has been faithfully praying for me.  Imagine my surprise when I got this sweet package from her on Saturday.

She sent me a nice card and this shoulder wrap that can be heated in the microwave, and is scented with lavender and peppermint - two of my favorite scents!  I tried it out Saturday night and greatly enjoyed it.   Thanks Dianna for being so thoughtful!

  1. Oh, Mari, 68 hour weeks are not good for you at all, my friend! Sure hope it won't be repeated anytime soon. That fettucini looks like a whole pound in one bowl! Wow! And it is my favorite! How nice that you got time with your folks and Bob's. I'm sure your girls will find a way to celebrate this week!! Keep us posted! A lovely gift from your friend!

  4. I'm glad that it turned out that you didn't have to work Sunday after all. Your picnic lunch and a hike in the park sounds like a nice relaxing time for you...something totally different from work.

It looks as if your dad and stepmom were enjoying their dinners and how thoughtful and kind of you to cook for Bob's mom and stepdad so it wasn't as stressful as it would have been had you gone out. My father-in-law was also legally blind and it was hard for him when we would go out to eat.

You, my friend, are such a blessing...kind and caring to those around you, wherever you happen to be. It is a blessing on my part to be an instrument of God's grace and love for you.

  10. Now, that's a lot of working hours, Mari. I know you must have been exhausted yet you took the time to visit and share meals with the parents. So nice of y'all. :)

Oh, the neck thing; I love it. Had one years ago, need a new one. LOL

    Happy Belated Mother's Day!

    xoxo

  11. What a thoughtful gift from Dianna. Sounds wonderful. I'm sorry your work schedule is so hectic; I've said it before but I'll say again, I don't know how you do it. I promise to pray for you daily that God will bear you up because I know you're profoundly necessary at the facility where you work. But those hours have just got to change! You can't keep up a manic schedule like that for very long. Nevertheless I'm sure your Mother's Day was a blessing to you, as you are to your children and so many others. Love ya girl xoxo

  15. What a thoughtful gift. You deserved it working 68 hours in a week! I'm glad you had some time to be with the family. I love Italian food too, but that bowl of food would be enough to feed a family of 4!
